  • Seasonlong Handicap Contest – Current standings

Here are the current standings in the Handicap competition, after the China Open.

Remember, you are automatically entered into this competition once you have predicted on rounds totalling 150 available points, AND predicted on at least 10 individual rounds. PLEASE NOTE THIS REQUIREMENT HAS BEEN UPPED OWING TO THE NUMBER OF MATCHES NOW IN THE GRAND PRIX. I may yet revise this again, giving a minimum requirement that EXCLUDES the Grand Prix First round.

This is the revised table. Included are all Predictors who have had 150 available points, AND have predicted on 10 individual rounds – as per the entry requirement above.

Averages are given to 4 decimal places, or more than four where the figure is not quite a tie.

        I'm not doing too well.

        (not bad though )
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman

just an idea but with regards to the season long handicap why have a rule along the lines of each competitor has to predict so many matches in each tournament say 20. unless they let you know well in advance they would be unable to offer predictions for a certain tournament- holiday etc that way anyone on 93-94% at christmas doesnt get smart for the rest of the season !!!!!!!!!!!!

then there could be updated scores on a regular basis !!!!

as long as it doesnt involve too much work for you of course

With this, couldn't someone just predict one set of results and get a 200% record?

I have now updated the table, which is now based on number of points available, rather than number of matches.

This means that tournaments with available points of other than 2 per match can also be included.

                  ======

Note that nobody has yet met the minimum entry requirements of 150 available points and 10 individual rounds, since these are not been achievable.

Is it just me who feels like they are doing much worse than they thought when seeing the new scoring system?

Well it should not have made much difference.

Instead of being "per match" it is now "per points available", which essentially means your score is halved.

0.8 points per match = 0.4 points per available points, since each match is worth 2 points!

Although I notice that I have dropped from 3rd to 5th.......

Well it does prove that you don't need to know much about snooker to do ok in the predictions!
