  • UK Quarter-finals – ANNOUNCEMENT

Concerning the withdrawal of Ronnie O'Sullivan:

You will note that, as per Rule 8 of the Prediction Contest Rules, this match will NOT form part of the Prediction Contest.

The maximum points for this rould is therefore 6 points (2 points for each of the remaining three fixtures).

The Seasonlong Handicap figures will reflect this revised total.

    Rule 8:

    8 WALKOVERS –
Any match which, for whatever reason, is not played fully to a conclusion will be disregarded. This includes cases where a player does not show at all, and where a player retires before the due conclusion of the match; this also includes any matches incorrectly listed in (or incorrectly missing from) the draw as shown on the opening message of the predictions thread. Any highest break made in a match rendered void, will also be deemed void.

It does not affect me, but the official score is 9-1! as ref and countryman Jan Verhaas has announced!

I am highly impressed with how Jan speaks English. I mean I've heard him announce numbers before, but his conversational English is impressive. This completely off topic, but I had to say it somewhere.

as PTS said, the official scoreline is 9-1, but, even though i predicted a hendo win, im not overly bothered. rules are stated beforehand, and im just upset that we never got to see a great match

Despite it not being in my interest to argue this wasn't technically this match was played to a conclusion? Ronnie conceded 5 frames, he was able to continue but didn't hence it was played to conclusion.

              Hence the score of 9-1.

However I respect the verdict of The Statman of course, especially as I had down a 9-4 Sullivan victory.

It was played to a conclusion, but it was not played fully to a conclusion.

I must admit I thought the wording was "played to a scheduled conclusion" which would better describe the sentiment, but I think the gist was understood.

In fact in the second sentence, "This includes cases where...", the intention is explicity stated.

                    fair enough,

You must be wandering if this season id going to throw anything else at you:

Did you ever imagine having to deal with even one of: round robins, People dropping out of tournaments half way to play in Asia, Changes in number of frames to be played and players walking off during a match let alone all of them.

And we are only three tournaments to the good.

It was cancelled. All the bikini beach babes took one look at Ms. Tabb and thought, 'I can't compete with that!' and went home.
