  • Selby wins the 8th frame. Too little, too late surely ?

    • Congratulations to ROS. Was not a final I expected, though. Therefore Mark was much too weak today. Better luck next time
Ten reds and not a colour...

      • In absence of anything intelligent to say (no change there) I'll just type what I'm thinking:

        YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!

        • Was that Jo that Ronnie was hugging there after the match? I'm curious cuz he seemed genuinely happy with the win and if they're back together it could have a positive effect on him not just in snooker but in life as a whole
          Give'em hell, Mark :snooker:

          • I have been hearing this at every tournament I visited since 2004. Real pain in the @ss! And quite boring.

Think next year they should call it The Ronnie League.

Yes it was, it was, and Andy Goldstein quoted her as having said before the match that "My Ronnie's gonna win it, cos he's a genius." That's what she said.
I totally agree, scoo24, about the positive effect.
And good on Ronnie, he played solidly, scored massively when in, punished Mark who hasn't actually been there for most of the match, sadly, and won a record fifth consecutive PL title.
              Well done, Mr. O'S!
Despite the yellow moment. Which was also a peroxide blonde one.

              • What positive effect? When his marriage was in tatters last may, he won the worlds and won the NI trophy after splitting up. So those comments are not founded in any way. Completely speculative and gutter press remarks.

Thanks, I didn't hear that bit Brilliant though

I think part of why Mark wasn't playing well is because as you said he was being punished for nearly every mistake he made and the more you get that done to you the less confident you become but all credit to Ronnie for taking his chances, you can only play the player that's in front of you on the day. Mark also possibly put a lot of pressure on himself trying *too hard* to bring yesterday's form in tonight's game.

It was nice seeing Ronnie seeming so genuinely happy with the victory
                  Give'em hell, Mark :snooker:

I wasn't just referring to snooker m8, but rather to life in general. Broken families aren't exactly the best medicine for mental well-being. In a few year's time, snooker will be the least important on his list of priorities, wouldn't you say?

What comments are not founded? These?

And to further support my point, I could also mention this:http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2003...r.cliveeverton
Ronnie O'Sullivan made five centuries in beating Alan McManus 9-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the Travis Perkins UK Championship at The Barbican, but afterwards confessed that, between sessions, "I cried in my bath for 20 minutes. There's so much emotional stuff going on that I haven't dealt with."

I for one think that personal happiness is more important than the number of titles won; no one should have to make that choice but truth is we make it every day and on fortunate occasions a temporary compromise can be reached whereas on less fortunate ones one of them has to go. Hope it's the former here.
I applaud their attempt to get back together and try to offer their children a normal family life and themselves some stability in the process.
