  • Shi Hanqing wildcard match

    It has been brought to my attention that Rod Lawler is in fact playing Yu Delu in the wildcard round at Beijing, and not Shi Hanqing as stated in the Prediction thread.

    (I have just opened a thread on the same subject in The Snooker Lounge as you may already have noticed.)

    It is too late now to try to contact all those who have already submitted predictions for this match; so I am considering disregarding this match from the Prediciton Contest on the basis of faulty information in the thread.

    I'll let you know my decision but in the mean time please feel free to post your thoughts here.

    (Of course, if Yu beats Lawler, this will also mean that the next match, in the first round proper, would be disregarded too. Nevertheless we would still have 24 relevant matches, which is still eight more than a regular first round!)

    Just to let you know that there are three matches in this round that will not form part of the Prediction Contest, owing to Rule 10:

    MATCHES EXCLUDED FROM THE CONTEST
    10 –
    Any match which, for whatever reason, does not reach a scheduled conclusion will be disregarded. This includes cases where a player does not show at all, and where a player retires before the due conclusion of the match; this also includes any matches incorrectly listed in (or incorrectly missing from) the draw as shown on the opening message of the predictions thread (unless the error can be suitably corrected). Any highest break made in a match rendered void, will also be deemed void.

    ====

    The first match is John Parrott's wildcard match, which comes under matches not reaching their scheduled conclusion.

    The other two are the matches featuring Yu Delu, in the wildcard round and first-round-proper. These come under matches incorrectly missing from the opening thread.

    In fairness to all those who predicted in good faith on the basis of the opening thread, these matches will be disregarded.

    NB If the highest break of all the matches turns out to be in Yu Delu's match, this break will not count for the high-break bonus. The bonus will be judged on the highest break in a match that was part of the contest.
