  • Shanghai Round 1 – Results

Below are the results of the First Round Prediction Contest for the Shanghai Masters.

Please check your score (and anyone else’s as you wish) and report any queries within 48 hours of the date/time displayed at the top of this thread. Any queries raised after this time will not be considered.

A quick reminder of the scoring: 2 points for the correct winner and scoreline; one point for the correct winner with incorrect scoreline.

The Graeme Dott - Jamie Cope match was removed from the contest since it did not take place.

Please note that there was a two-way tie for first place, which was resolved as follows:
Number of correct match winners: did not resolve the tie (20 correct winners each).
Frame difference between predicted and actual scoreline, for matches where correct winner was predicted:
joao hendryfan: 24 frames' total difference
    steedee: 26 frames' total difference

Therefore, congratulations to joao hendryfan for winning the round.

Please note also that StunShot, thunder, Viktortheman and wildJONESEYE each gained a bonus point (not included below but marked with a *) for correctly predicting the highest break of the round, which was John Higgins’s 136.

Ah, last place again. Or is it? I make it 15 points.

Oh yes, have recounted and I agree. Table now updated, with my apologies.

Would just say statman, that this system is rather faulty, because guessing a winner has a degree of skill but a scoreline isa bit of a fluke

anyway, I don't mind, is simple and fun, but was just pointing that out

Yes, true, to an extent. It has been mentioned before but particularly when the matches get longer, there is something to be rewarded for getting the final close to the right scoreline, rather than just expecting, say, Ronnie O'Sullivan to beat Dave Harold.

In early rounds, ties would be very difficult to separate!
