  • First Round Betting Accumulator

    Hi Guys,

I'm looking to put a bet on the First Round World Championships as an accumulator! I'm a big snooker fan but have never bet on the sport before, normally prefering football, cricket or tennis.

    Anyway, I want to put a 5-player accumulator on......so I'm thinking:

    Higgins to beat Hawkins
    Robertson to beat O'brien
    Williams to beat Campbell
    Ding to beat Pettman
    Murphy to beat Greene

All favourites so I'm hoping they would win, although I know theres always a couple of upsets!

However, if you were placing a bet, out of all the first round matches, what 5 players do you think are most likely to come through?

I might take out Murphy (who's not been in great form), and put Selby to beat Doherty instead.....i'm still not sure?? Or maybe put Allen to beat Forde?

I need to narrow it down to just 5.

any tips or advice before I make the bet would be aprreciated

    Cheers.

I would,nt be surprised if there a few shocks first round , but i think the five you said are amongst the near enough dead cert ranked players to qualify .

Pesonally i think out of the qualifiers , Sdavis , M gould , J cope , M holt , S lee G dott and pheraps Doherty have the best chance of the qualifiers , not that i,d bet on any of them though .

The other seeded players SHOULD qualify withouth much problems .

If i had to pick five certs i,d go for Williams , Robertson , Ding , Higgins , Ronnie

I wouldn't feel like betting on Murph too based on his form & results this season.. but he had ups & downs last season too, and there you go - Crucible finalist.

For some reason I do not have full confidence in Robertson's & Ding's 1st round - because of their own (un)stability. But then their opponents should be forgiving enough, and it's WC, so the seeds should be pretty reliable.

Generally it seems like some grand accumulator should include all the seeds

& wasn't there a thread already with a very similar question recently - like last week?

So more on the same here, hazza you can take a look at the 1st thread at least:
Which qualifiers will win their 1st Round matches?
Which qualifier will do the best?

By the way, does anyone know any betting guides or blogs on snooker betting out there in the world wide web?

Thanks. Saw this one already (and his prediction % is not too bad), but not sure if I agree it's that amusing to read, apart from predictions part

                Anyone any more?
I tried to google that out some time ago, nothing on snooker whatsoever.

If i was you i'd definitly leave ronnie out as hes so unpredictable and liang is one of the best qualifiers.
I'd be pretty surprised if hendry lost in the first round to anda zhang.

                  I think i'd go with:
                  Higgins
                  Robertson
                  Williams
                  Hendry
                  Ding

Might even put this bet on myself along with my traditional Robbo to be world champ bet, seems like a fun one

at present, recon I'm gonna go with:

                    Higgins
                    Robertson
                    Williams
                    Ding

                    & either Hendry or Murphy

Hendry currently 1/4 and murphy 1/7 at skybet.com, so more return for backing Hendry.....

anyone seen much of zhang then?
