My main focus tonight was actually Lisowski-Yan, but unfortunately that one was pretty low quality as well. Lisowski looks to be back to the kind of snooker he was playing prior to last season, one-dimensional and ineffective. Yan wasn't impressive either, needs to raise his game against Robertson for sure.Comment

Selby is the sleeper in this tournament, looking at the draw IMO. Though Mark Allen could cause him problems, I think it's sort of made for him to progress to the final.Comment

Eden Sharav was playing on the next table to me a few weeks back, i didn't know he was still on the tour if I'm honest, nice to see him doing well . We had a day out at the Bathgate snooker centre, star tables, match cloth, heated slates ,steel block cushions, pro cut pockets, electronic. Scoreboard, ?6 an. Maybe I'm a bit harsh, but I think this may be one of the worst big tournaments in recent memory when it comes to the standard of play. Sometimes you get an event where a number of top players play really well and end up playing each other, but this one just seems to be the opposite, with almost no one playing anything special. Trump, the best player in the world, went out in the last32, and Murphy, probably the second most successful performer of the season, went out in the opening round. Mark Williams was a top4 seed and he was just dreadful, and we also lost Hawkins, Gilbert and Kyren Wilson in the early rounds.
Today we've already seen an uninspired performance from Bingham, losing to Higgins who wasn't much better himself, and tonight Robertson is completely out of sorts and currently 4-0 down to Yan Bingtao. Selby has struggled the whole tournament as well, while O'Sullivan and Allen are okay at best. It seems like the tournament is relying on a resurgence form Ding Junhui and Stephen Maguire, as well as inspired form of Gary Wilson, to at least raise the standard a little bit. It's interesting that my QF prediction isn't looking that bad at the moment, but I did expect some players to play a lot better than they are. :wink:Comment

Not just you, It's been poor. When a tournament has prestige, the bad matches are still quite exciting, because of the occasion. But the UK doesn't have that anymore, so a bad match is just that.Comment

Extraordinary frame. :smile: Yet another example of why you should never concede when needing only a few snookers with a red still on the table. Robertson needed 15 penalty points in this one and got them. At one point Virgo was urging him to concede when he was something like 58 behind with 51 on the table, which would be kind of ridiculous. :smile:Comment
