I thought players are not allowed to opt out of tournaments which was causing some to complain about the constant travelling and accommodation they had to fork out for. A problem for the lower ranked players and not for someone like Ronnie but even if players can choose what tournament they play in the rules should state that the top 16 must enter the Masters unless they have a valid medical or personal reason to miss it. Maybe Ronnie did but if it was just because he didn't feel like that's not a reason. If he starts missing tournaments, especially the big 3, during the last few years of his professional career it's going to tarnish his legacy.
I know that prize money isn't what Ronnie is about but it's madness to miss a tournament with such a big first prize when you're the favourite to win.
