Adverts will generate revenue for the carrier but is profits from the advertising passed on to World Snooker? Apart from a tournament sponsor what is funding the staging of the tournament and paying the venue and staff? I doubt a sponsor will cover all costs but could be wrong. The WC is probably the most expensive event to stage and will be shown during the height of summer when a lot of people will be on holiday or too hot to leave the house.

i don’t think I can bring myself to watch the Worlds if it goes ahead like this. I think I’ll skip it and wait for next year’s.

I usually watch with the volume down these days, so I didn't really notice. Why not give it a try? Put some music on or something and just concentrate on the snooker, which was very entertaining, that'll do me.

Also selling the TV rights abroad to China, middle East, US etc.
