Not sure who is worse ,Perry or Bingham ,neither have any idea how to commentate ,we don't need to hear them babble on before during and after the shot on every shot .they should watch some old footage when Jack Karhnam was commentating, who in my opinion was one of best .Ken Doherty is good ,talks when he has to and seems to read the game well ,not very often he calls it wrong .
It can be very irritating and babble is the perfect word for it. A good commentator puts themselves in the place of the viewer and Virgo is one of the best as was Willie Thorne. I also like Ken because he is always cheerful and gives good analysis and doesn't talk over the shots.I remember Ted Lowe and how he would be very sparing with his comments and I hate it when someone is on a break and the commentator feels the need to break the silence with a pointless fact or speculate about something. Or comment on the 'lovely wife' of one of the players as the camera zooms in to her. Although to be fair I've not heard Dennis say that for a while.
Can't wait for the WC and how the commentators will cope with no audience to make laugh.
6 Centuries and loses . I seem to remember Mark Williams losing 5-4 and making 4 Centuries once . [ Possibly against Stephen Lee......but the memory isn't very good these days ]
Well Murphy has been practising his safety during lockdown, played some good stuff which is unlike him, break building as good as ever but once again that upper arm drop which plagued him a couple of seasons ago let him down on blacks off the spot too often. Big pockets helped him out a few times but he didn't deserve to lose on a fluke though.
He now has two chins on the cue so it may be dragging a bit
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair
Not sure about anybody else but i'd like the pockets to be tighter, I find the frames where players miss to be much more interesting than a break-fest.
Murphy moved to Ireland did he not and has he been working with Fergal O'Brian?
That’s correct but not sure if he’s continued the practice with Fergal during the lock down. Would depend on if they could get access to the club. Never heard any mention of one of them having their own table. Nothing wrong with his form tho to make six tons.
I like 2 top players banging in high breaks against each other with some top tactical play, the odd scrappy frame and a few shocking misses due to tension and nerves. :snooker:
Maguire maybe just to nick it tonight ,he looked like he was just beginning to play after the change of balls in the last frame ,Trump missing a few too many sitters .Not a match I would put money on though .
I knew players would start complaining about being too hot with the calendar being put out of sync because of lockdown. It must cost a fortune to cool a large venue so maybe there was no aircon and that would be enough to make anyone miserable. I agree Judd was unusually negative post match and is usually much more philosophical and positive about his performance. It's a bit sour grapes and no different to a tennis player complaining they lost because it was humid. It may have been hot but it was hot for both players. Despite that I can understand how a world class player like Judd expects the conditions to be consistent.
