I don't really see a Wilson-Selby final as being one that is popular to the casual audience, though you never know with the current covid-situation. Some sports are having really great viewership simply because it is sport back on the tv.

Though it's still early to count out Trump regardless.
just out of curiosity what do you find more popular about trump's style of play than wilson's or selby's

I love it when people say this, it usually means exactly the opposite.

You're right of course, the casual watcher will generally prefer a name they know, but the future has to start somewhere and who doesn't love an outsider trouncing the status quo.

          • I'm not going to even bother quoting whats been said. I for one would love a Selby Wilson final. The few other close friends I have that love snooker (one was a former world number 2) agree.

              • can anyone see kurt maflin come back , i can't see it somehow , i think the canny scot has too much of a lead only needing six frames , i don't think trump is beaten yet he just seems to need a good dinner and a few good beers down him , maybe a bit like robertson too haha

                  • I heard that there is a possibility of having an audience for the final. Is it just too far fetched due to the re-imposed lockdown?

I'd be very surprised if that were true.

Well, McGill came back from a six frame deficit, so why not Maflin?
I wouldn't rule it out, but it's very unlikely. Maflin to me seems like somebody, who can hang on with his opponents, but I don't see him roll over an opponent, winning frame for frame. Therefore his consistency is not strong enough.

I can see Trump coming back, when he has one of his incredible potting days, but I feel that Wilson is a bit too solid to lose 7-2 tomorrow.

O'Sullivan I feel still has a good chance. He certainly can win the second session 6-2 as well and already a 5-3 would be good enough for a close finish.

The current Covid rules in the UK that forbid fans to attend events are in place until August the 15th. So theoretically they could get lifted right in time for the final. But I have no idea if the situation in Great Britain has got better during the last two weeks to make that scenario realistic.

                          • Well, if all of the current QF scores read in reverse, I wouldn't have been too surprised, but it has been a very unexpected day's play, for me anyway. Who knows what's in store tomorrow. Robbo, Trump and Ronnie are all well capable of upping their game and storming back into their matches, not too sure about Kurt though, shame. Either way, we can't loose.

                            • Watching the 15th frame between Trump and Wilson and it's been a long time since I saw the swan neck being used. Is the swan neck and extended spider part of compulsory equipment for tournaments? Should players expect them to always be available in World Snooker tournaments?

                              • Maflin's first shot, way out, how come a cue action that's 'as good as anyones' fails to work on even basic shots ?
