  • Wow, well played Kurt. The first upset so far at the main event. Higgins v Maflin next.

    • Just missed the midnight finish. Nervy stuff towards the end, but a well deserved win for Maflin.

      • Maflins edgy win vs joe o connor in round 3 could have been the impetus thats drove him since then , i don’t think this win should be underestimated , if he keeps that up he could give john higgins a really close match or win .

I wouldn’t say the warning was ridiculous. In fact I’d have been surprised if he hadn’t been warned. It’s not what we want to see in snooker, is it?
I think it's a bit petty, the gesture was directed at the cueball, not a person. But I suppose you're right, everyone is so easily offended these days it would've been a surprise if he hadn't been warned.

I didn't see it so not sure if he did it in anger or intended as a light hearted joke but it's something the ref should have acted on or they might keep doing it and the middle finger is a lot more visually offensive than two fingers which some see as more comical than profane. It's also giving a lot away about his temperament which could come back to haunt him against John Higgins.

            • his temperament was fine , she warned him earlier about missing the reds a third time and lose the frame and he produced a really gutsy and great pot of a red , unlucky to finish out of position , i think thats the best i've ever seen maflin play , fairly long time coming though tbh , hope he plays that well again .

                  • Thanks for the link to the video and fair play to him for getting so close to a maximum and I can understand the frustration but I've never seen a player react like that before so he needs to consider how his temperament gives a lot away to other players. It's like that saying 'a bad workman blames his tools' and I'm not saying he played badly because he got as much running side on the cue ball as he could but the angle just wasn't there to clear the yellow. It happens and players channel their frustrations in a more subtle and constructive way.

                    • Thirty-five years ago Dennis Taylor was 8 - 0 down against Steve Davis but came back to win the match.
Can Tepchai Uh-Nooh repeat Taylor's feat? What are the odds? Worth a flutter?

Offensive to who or what ? I suppose the poor little yellow ball might be in a sulk and refuse to be potted aymore I couldn't stay awake any longer so missed the end of the match but well done Maflin, finally realising his promise maybe.

Spot on, but it could be worse, it could be Phil Yates or Darren Morgan.

BetFred are not taking bets on O'Sullivan but they're offering 100/1 on Tepchai.
If it was a million-to-1, I'd put a quid on it.

100/1 only? That's ridiculuous. Odds Thepi will still win are much worse.
