  • they should have played the second session of clarke mcgill this morning instead of the first session of either the robertson or gould matches this morning , we're left with no match to a finish tonight but two tomorrow night , not very good planning imo .

    • I watched the Clarke Vs Perry match during qualifiers and Clarke was wiping his cue down or moving when Perry was taking shots up towards where Clarke was sitting. He seemed to be doing it deliberately, it's definitely etiquette that all players are aware of when playing not to move or get out of the line of your opponents shot.

I think Clarke's reaction on twitter shows the type of person he is.

Yeah, players posting on twitter during the interval is just stupid and shows a lack of ambition for me. You're playing in the World Championship, what the hell are you doing on twitter? Glad to see Clarke went on a losing run after that.

        • Just noticed Hawkins is another to move to a 1 piece. Any info, is this the first tournament with it?

                • I didn't see the match so don't know if Clarke was being deliberate but after seeing the footage of when McGill approaches Clarke all I see is a player losing it and becoming aggressive with his opponent instead of speaking to the ref. The way Clarke reacts with total surprise and trying to defuse it by going back to his chair doesn't suggest he was trying to put anyone off. Neither player has come off well out of this but Anthony reacted in the wrong way and deserves a warning.

You can't tell what happened, Clarke is standing out of shot at the black end of the table, it would be interesting to see if he had been doing this throughout the match and it was a kind of straw and camels back situation or if it was a one off and AM overreacted. It would also make a difference if he's in the eyeline and moving around or felt he was kind of trapped in a spot so stood still to cause the least disruption.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                    • Not playing the first round has had no affect on Kyren's game apparently. He has a table at home I guess.

Apparently Joe Perry had an issue with Clarke doing it in their match , according to a few twitter reports .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Think I heard one of the commentators say John Paris made it for him to the same spec as his original. Clearly didn’t replicate the horrible knot on the shaft of the original lol.

The moisture is in the atmosphere, not in the cloth as the table heaters take care of that, if the balls are colder than the atmosphere then moisture will condense onto the balls and make contacts between them heavier and lead to even more kicks. The only way to counteract this is to warm the balls so that they're warmer than the temperature in the venue, I don't think the table heaters can do that.

I agree, McGill was on the yellow which was the other side of the table from where Clarke was standing. Table etiquette for me is to stand away from the table and keep still rather than walk past your opponent to your chair and risk putting him off as he gets down on the shot, which is what the referees and the cameramen do all the time anyway. Joe Perry was commentating and said nothing about Clarke doing the same against him in the qualifiers.

                              • Whatever happened it certainly upset Clarke’s rhythm. I’d like to see Clarke come out and try to put this behind him and dispatch with AM ASAP!!
