Well if that's how it is then that's how it is, but winning the WC after a buy would taint it for me somewhat. I'd always feel like it was the only reason I won, but maybe that's just me.

    • I'm not sure what that was in the Trump-Wilson match just now, but I'm thinking McGill's chances are looking a little better.

Well there could be a new intro for anthony hamilton in a tournament if he ever got that far , instead of the ‘ sheriff of pottingham ‘ rob walker could introduce him as ‘ the player who’s withdrawal from the 2020 world championship out of covid - 19 fears being an asthma sufferer helped enable kyren wilson become world champion ‘ .

Got a good new ring to it and would give walker a good linguistic workout earning his keep , so its a win win from here .

        • Don't think the commentators noticed that just now, but when Judd was lining that red up along the black cushion he suddenly stood up from the shot as though distracted. I then noticed the referee was grinning and Judd turned to her and asked her to re-spot the black. Intrigued I rewound a few seconds and this time noticed the black roll over onto it's spot just as Judd was about to pull the trigger on the red. She obviously hadn't re-spotted it exactly on the previous shot. Never seen that before.

          • somehow i could never envision neil robertson beating an in form selby at the crucible , one of those things i guess like the bbc dropping the licence fee or they're being a proper clean brexit .

            • Looks like the crucible curse is knocking on Judd's door.

              • Plenty of chances for Trump to limit the damage tonight, but he wasn't really able to do it. Robertson is actually in a similar position now. If he could just win two of the last three frames, he would still have a solid chance.

                • Judd and Robbo are done. It's amazing just how bad their form is.

                  • The thought of a final with Wilson, McGill or Maflin isn't filling me with much enthusiasm.

                    • Selby as the potential opponent isn't making the prospect any better

if wilson makes the final and plays well in the final who would you foresee beating him by say six frames or more ?

lol i don't care who makes the final but if selby's opponents can't match his matchplay thats called being the better player , o sullivan said he was outfought and outthought in the final he lost to selby , if it was good enough for o sullivan what would be wrong then ?

                          • What happens to the match balls after a tournament? Are they available to buy or sold at auction? I imagine a boxed set with certificate of authenticity would be desirable among collectors.

                              • Either way, let's face it, if Ronnie and Judd go out, the rest of the tournament becomes a ratings lemon, more so with the names left, with only hardcore snooker fans (e.g. from this forum) and the player's family watching

The general public will not care for a Selby v Wilson final but good on the players for making the most of the opportunity given to them by this wretched virus
