I think Lisowski’s appeal is that he plays with a bit of flair which is lacking in the modern player. He hasn’t got that robotic manner to his play that seems to be the technique that younger new pro’s strife for and have been coached to play like. They might have good technique but I find most modern players as boring as hell to watch.
If he could improve his consistency and stop switching off on shots which must be why he misses those easier balls then I think he could win some titles .

I didnt get what all the fuss was about until I see him play in top form last year against Robertson in I think maybe the CoC comp. He went toe to toe with Robbo then and it really showed what he is capable of. I guess I just love an underdog with talent who looks like they could do better as I was always a Jimmy fan when he was in his pomp.

is there any such thing as an underdog in modern pro snooker , if lisowski fitted that bill he'd be someone scraping for pro table time somewhere coming in and out of the q school for the last five years , underdog my woolwich arsenal .

Zhao Xintong , dark horse to make it to the final ? this is Jack's opportunity to make a big impression on a tournament , should be a good match, ditto for Martin Gould , if he plays to his best with confidence . Hope its the outsiders turn to win something big and knock the established big names.

Young Zhou Xintong showed he had that tonight! well played.
Maybe Hossein Vafhaei is your idea of a true underdog? Listened to his interview after his great win today and that seems to fit your definition quite well. Good player.

However all the privilege in the world will not help you beat John Higgins or Judd or Ronnie, iron will, determination and bottle will only do that.

‘ Underdog ‘ being just a figure of speech in terms of the exclusivity of the pro game and affording to stay there , just on reflection now i think if i hated anyone in snooker i don’t think i’d watch and certainly wouldn't make any views public about it , in my case though i probably don’t see it as much as most in describing players as ‘ talented ‘ for me its more a combination of familiarity and psychology which i can’t be bothered and dont think its much worth postulating on , not for a second espousing my opinion as fact its just something i’ve gravitated to .
‘ hate ‘ good lord picking up a cue in the first place out of interest of the game i’d need much more reason than getting my rear end handed to me at the q school for that my fellow sf posting person , peace .
Also don’t know about vafaei’s case but someone like kacper filipiak apparently only earned 4k last season , who’s propping him up , maybe he’s living off air like casper the friendly ghost i dunno , peace .
