When I was watching earlier the new girl was saying Robertson was amazing for getting 31 maximums this season. Slip of the tongue I thought, but she went on to say he had 700+ career maximums. I don't mind getting new, young and more diverse presenters in, but ffs do some basic prep before you go on live TV to talk about a sport you know nothing about. If a producer is talking crap into your earpiece, you need to be prepared to spot the BS. Hazel Irvine has covered golf, athletics, snooker olympics and winter olympics, that's a huge range of sports, and I can't recall her making a complete tit out of herself once. Hopefully she'll be back soon, but she's probably out, along with Sue Barker. Diversity doesn't seem to extend to women over 50, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Clare Balding get replaced by someone half her age in the next few years.

The worst thing about that, is that it disrespects actual fans of the sport, I'm all for opening up the game to wider/newer audiences, but grammatically, factual information is crucial in any sport to give it real credence.

Agreed, I like Hazel and think she has the respect of players in all the sports she has covered. The broadcasters choose who they put up to say the words, and going forward it really is up to them to decide on quality, personality and ability to deliver good supporting informative information.

I do accept that some great examples have done their "apprenticeship" on the job, I'll never forget how bad Sue Barker was on Question of Sport until she settled in and found her confidence.

Sadly a lot in this new age we enter into will be decided by money, who is cheaper.... theres a big deficit to regain.
