Ding’s eye twitch has begun, and like Dreyfus before him, that’s not a good sign!

Ding collapsed again ,he seems to dwell on the frame that would have won him the match ,at 5 each you kinda knew he was done .Well played by Ronnie ,he looked sharp in those last 3 frames .

From a tournament that before start looked very interesting, it?s beginning to look like a gift for O?Sullivan I can?t see anyone else than the winner of Allen - Higgins and maybe Bingham that can challenge him. If only Ding had won it would really have been an open and unpredictable affair.

...like I said in a different thread: as soon as Judd had to withdraw due to covid, Ronnie just had to fancy this as another "easy" triple crown event in his cv. This is being served on a silver platter, kind of like the WC

Allen is using another new cue. Do we know which? JP, S&G and now?

He said he 'found' a JP in Christmas times and he's trying it out now.

looks very much like his old one, and i wouldnt be surprised if it actually was and he had just had it altered slightly. Can understand him not wanting to say that though, brings unwanted pressure on the whole thing...

Ding needs to evaluate his game because he shouldn't be losing against anyone at 3-0 and then 5-3 ahead in a best of 11. The red he missed at 5-3 ahead had running side and it looks like a touch of drag on it but as Stephen Hendry said it should have been a plain ball pot to make sure of the red. Then Ding played the pot on the brown when it was 5-5 even though there was no position for a red. Ding gave the match away with his shot selection but I'm not complaining that it means a Ronnie and John Higgins Masters QF. Come on John!

Yep i thought so too, looks just like the old one, which i notice because mine looks the same.
Maybe in the end he decided to play with the old one instead.

Good to see it’s not just us mere mortals that yo yo between cues trying to find ‘the one’ .
He needs to get rid of the old one if he gets a new cue otherwise your asking for trouble when you start playing below par.

I don't see John really threatening Ronnie here. His form is just too inconsistent throughout every match, way too many easy mistakes.

Nowadays John doesn't win because he puts on remarkably great perfomances, he wins because his oppenent is making more mistakes than he makes and then John manages to capitalize from that... he wins because of his timing (like Van Barneveld did in Darts for years). Yesterday John won because in the decider Mark missed the easiest of browns from the spot...
And this is going on for many years now, he's basically just clinging to his will and his experience, which in John's case is a lot, but no way enough to match Ronnies pure talent. Last time he beat Ronnie was three years ago, in a BO9.

If anyone is to prevent him from getting an easy 8th Masters win, Ronnie has to put on one his bleak "Idontreallycare" perfomances, basically play really bad, but since he usually pulls himself together when it matters, cv- or moneywise, I don't see this. If Stephen Maguire manages to reproduce something like he played against Mark Allen in the UKs last year, maybe, but otherwise... no.

Just observed that different sets of commentators are there for different streams like Joe and Dave? On Eurosport. Taylor and Hendry on matchroom live. No access to BBC, are they having another set there too?

Nope. BBC commentary is as always... guess matchroom's just taking over the BBC coverage minus the in-between bits.

Nice'n'steady win for David there, Kyren not living up to his own expectations once again (though looking like the better player, actually)... some good safety play here and there, overall solid, but nothing too fancy. I guess that's gonna be the standard to expect from tonight's match as well.

It was Taylor and Hendry on the BBC for the Gilbert / Wilson match.

Delighted to see Gilbert go through, not least because I get very little pleasure out of watching Kryten.
