Not being able to post during the World final has frustrated me to the point that I made a conscious decision not to post on here anymore, and six months later absolutely nothing has been sorted. It doesn't take this long to set up a forum that works. In fact, it takes a weekend at most, so I find the suggestion that we just need to wait and hope for the best quite insulting. I feel for everyone who has stuck around and is trying their best to keep the site going, especially Dean and Neil, but I'm done supporting it. The reality is that the people in charge couldn't give a **** about the state of this site, otherwise they would have done something about it already.

Enjoy the Welsh Open. Should be a good weekend.
Well I have only been here just under 2 years and when I joined you were posting detailed long contributions that were just superb. Although you are disillusioned with the present malfunctioning of the site ( and everything you say is justified) it would lift all our spirits if you contributed something just before the upcoming worlds.

ps I am in Ireland and there is a very healthy snooker site here on " boards,ie " with lots of people contributing daily , i feel most of it is inane dribble unfortunately and never bother with it. The snookerforum.co.uk lacks in quantity of members contributing but the quality of the contributions makes interesting reading with insightful observations.

ADR147 was another one who posted regularly and provided advice on cues etc. For some reason he has given up as well. Not sure what’s happened as I think he had a connection to the site owners. Maybe he got fed up banging his head against a brick wall.

Meanwhile back to the snooker. Shaping up for a Ronnie v Mark Selby final. Think I would prefer Ronnie v Murphy.

I remember years ago we were promised a bright new dawn for the site. New owners, new broom and all that, exciting times ahead. As far as I remember it involved a change to a crappy set up and some betting logos popping up. That put me off even back then.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

So we actually have a pretty good quarterfinal-lineup with four of the top 8 making it there and only one and a half outsider still in. That one is Jordan Brown and the half is Tom Ford.

The first quarter in the upper half is the meeting of good old "friends". Shaun Murphy vs. Stephen Maguire. There are always more emotions involved, especially for Maguire I feel. But obviously he is the one who lets you feel this more. And despite this he has a slight H2H-advantage in meaningful matches with 8-6. Both are looking for a place at the Players Championship. Murphy as of now would be in and a win here would already give him the ticket, while Maguire will have to make the final at least. I think this is up in the air.

The second meeting there is Selby vs. Brown and clearly Selby is the favourite here. But over the shorter formats and this is only Best-of-9 upsets are likelier to happen.

In the down half Tom Ford challenges Mark Williams, both also looking for a place at the Players. Ford as of now would actually be in and as with Murphy: A win over Williams and he's definitely in. This also shows that he had a pretty good season and also he has a good run here with two 4-3 wins over strong players as Kyren Wilson and Jack Lisowski.
A win for Williams and his chances would be pretty great as well. I really think he would like to play there, therefore I think he's the favourite in this match.

Carter - O'Sullivan obviously is another meeting of friends. Carter has good wins here as well, over Higgins and Allen, but Ronnie is playing very well and I think he will win this. Carter had his great moment in this rivalry with the win at the World Championship in 2018.

If somebody is interested in the race for the Players Championship, this is the current state:

                13. Lu Ning 59.500
                14. Stuart Bingham 53.000
                15. Shaun Murphy 51.500
                16. Tom Ford 51.000
                17. Mark Williams 43.500
                18. Jordan Brown 40.000
                19. Ali Carter 37.000
                20. Stephen Maguire 35.000

Players get 10.000 more for a semifinal, +20.000 for final and +50.000 for the win at the Welsh Open.

Which actually means that Lu Ning is almost safe. The only scenery which would take him out is:
Carter winning the title, Brown making the final and Murphy and Ford being the other two semifinalists.
                Not very likely.

Murphy and Ford will have the ticket with one more win. Cause they would be #13 and #14 then and obviously only two of the other four could make the final and overtake them, still leaving them at #15 and #16.

Williams is in with a semifinal of his own and Maguire beating Murphy.

Brown, Carter and Maguire will have to make at least the final.

As for Bingham he will be at least overtaken bei either Ford or Williams. If also Murphy wins his quarterfinal, he will have to hope that neither Brown nor Carter makes the final - which still means he has plenty of hope.

Today is my first look at the welsh, I'm currently working twelve shifts mon-thurs and so dog tired at night I can't focus while watching tv so don't bother. Unlike itsnoteasy I've given up on football for good, can't stand all the diving, feiging injury, pink boots and hugging and kissing after a bought penalty, the game is corrupt from top to bottom, at least with snooker there's some honesty left.
The forum is poor at the moment due to low contributions, many members and visits but very few bother to post, that's a concern. Come on people don't be afraid, we don't bite unless you're a troll with an agenda or a total jerk, and there's some great knowledge and insight to be had here, give it a go
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

A lot of the matches are repeated in shortened form on YouTube some hours after , if you want to dip in now and again

Not good news for Carter. Doesn’t get much luck health wise.

The forum has been sinking like the Titanic for a long time, don't know how it stayed afloat for the last 12 months. Don't really know why I keep visiting. Initially I randomly thought I'd get to my 1000 posts then call it a day. But then the post count broke

as you say, unlucky for Carter.
