I really think he should take a less risky approach once again. Too often he just seems to think, let's try if this works and doesn't care too much that chance is big he might leave a chance for his opponent. I also get the feeling that he won't play much longer and might be one player who will end his career sooner than usual in the game.
You've summed up my thoughts on Ding precisely. *sigh*

The juices are starting to flow now, looking at some of these 2nd round/potential matches.

Yeah, I expected this to be much closer. Actually I thought that Maflin would be one of the most dangerous qualifiers. But when Selby puts on his top safety game there really isn't anything the opponent can do.

      • Craigie looks like he’s given up here at 8-4. You can see he’s not happy with the Williams break-off. Lol

        • Thought I’d tuned into Crimewatch then when it’s showed the Hawkins - Selt match info... LOL

Have you seen these two men..

who did maflin beat to get here , jak jones and robert milkins , something of a light qualifying group imo , and maflin really is tailor made for selby , a lot of good second round matches , its hard to call any of them with the exception of trump vs gilbert imo

            • It's shaping up as a good week for the seeds. 13 are either through or on the verge, and a Shaun Murphy win would make that 14. Either way, it'll be the most seeds in the second week since 2009.

I think you are undervalueing Milkins a bit here. He is a good player, though his season wasn't.

All in all the first round was a letdown. Only four close matches with Murphy - Davis a possible fifth.

                  • Barry Hawkins looked impressive tonight. Hardly missed a ball.

possibly but for me he's had his shake with exclusive access to the best facility in probably south west england re the swsa and he still doesn't seem to be picking up on results , don't forget it took a circus break for him to stay with joe o connor in the previous round , yes agreed though about the first round a bit forgettable but tbf hawkins and williams played very well just now

                        • Hawkins preparing to drive the wooden spike through Count Orlock's heart this evening! Gotta feel for the vampire though, just falling the wrong side of so many frames in this match. But I guess this is a reality in terms of class. Selt would need to be at his best to take his opportunities and many better players have done the same to Barry so this is a good pegging level status review. ?

                            • I think Lisowski might just do slightly better against Robertson than both these predictions but other than that, concur.
