Makes me laugh when the ref and assistant ref get confused about which direction each other means when re-positioning balls after a foul. It's not hard to set a standard such as always referring to it from the perspective of where the ref is standing. Then it just becomes a case of forward, backward, left, right.

The assistant referee sees what we (the TV viewers) see, right? So why then when the table ref was asking for help to replace the cue ball, was Paul Collier not telling him he needed to move the cue ball back towards him by at least half a ball? It was perfectly clear to me it wasn’t in the right place, so why wasn’t it to him?"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

I praise Stuart for keeping his cool because it was like the ref was thinking he can pretend to move the cue ball. It didn't affect the outcome of the frame because Stuart got it safe on his second attempt but that is an area that they need to brush up on. Especially when the worlds best referees are saying "do you mean towards you or away from you" to the assistant ref."Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"
