My point wasn't that they are the same format. Moreso, that most people don't watch the league, it wasn't even televised, apart from in Ladbrokes, until recently. For what is a tournament with very low prize money, little prestige, overly short format they don't half string it out. The only purpose seems to be to shorten the summer break. Now that so many tournaments are best of sevens, the novelty of a short match isn't really there anymore. Just don't get why it's on the calandar, it this was taking place in the middle of the season no one would tune in.

I suppose it's ok to play in it just to get match sharp. It's the first competitive snooker of the new season, so it may be useful for some. Plus any money won for the lower ranked pros and any experienced gained by the new ones must count for something. Not sure the big boys are overly fussed about it.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

You summed it up very succinctly INE, couldn't agree more, especially after witnessing some of Ronnie's antics yesterday! I seriously think he may play " Russian roulette" for real real in a big tourney against lower ranked players. I kinda get it... If I have to give someone 40 start I ain't playing much safety... I think that's his thought process?? I'm not playing grown up snooker against you and suffering the chance of losing a " best of 3" that tbh anyone on the planet ( in pro snooker) almost could potentially lose....

Leanne Evans got a couple of 2 -2 draws yesterday and was in with a very good opportunity of getting a 3-1 result against an out of sorts Tom Ford but she fluffed her chances. She will become a better player as she gets to play on a higher level. Fallon Sherrock beats guys in dart matches on a regular basis and gets a lot of 180s . Would be great to see Leanne getting a few wins over the duration of her card

Dean Young has won his first frame as a pro. Very well done. Versus Luca Brecel.

I'm rooting for Luca obviously, should be on freesports in 7 minutes, not sure they'll show his match

I didn't see any of the matches today. Was stuck with work. Just glanced through the scores on WST. McGill lost all three of his matches today. A little surprising.

Ken Doherty won his group that included Martin Gould and had a very good chance of a 147 in his match with Gould. Think he did 12 reds and 11 blacks , with the reds left in very potable positions.

Who’s commenting on this Saengkham / Figueiredo match? Don’t recognise the voice at all.
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

Thanks. Looks like a young Tony Knowles in that first pic!

That Rasson table looks like it’s playing very tight ,the middles look brutal and lots of shots missed down the cushions ,seen quite a bit of this since it’s been on over the last 8 days .Compared to the champion of champions last November where there were tons galore and balls dropping in all over ,even the players were saying it was a potting fest ,but that tournament does not come under WPBSA regs ,so doesn’t really matter too much .
John Higgins had been playing today ,looks like he’s lost quite a bit of weight ,I must say I’ve quite enjoyed watching it ,been some dull stuff but some good frames too .
Good to see everyone using all the same tackle and the rests in the proper place under the rails .
