The Reanne/Allen match has left a real sour taste. I've never been a fan of Allen, I find his temperament, past comments about Chinese players cheating and his technique to be aesthetically horrible to watch, but last night I felt sorry for him.

I've met Reanne a number of times and she's a nice, down to earth woman but in terms of snooker I don't think last night did the women's game, men's game or World snooker as a whole any favours.
It was such a shame that the best women's player of all time (apart from Alison fisher in my opinion) and a masters winner couldn't let snooker be the main narrative. Instead we were hit with the narrative about an ex couple going through the courts. That coupled with yobbish 'fans' who're clearly not real snooker people or haven't a clue about etiquette of spectating a match, made it a horrible watch in my opinion. If it's being settled in court then that's where it will be settled, no need for a man doing his work to not be able to do his job properly.

    Back to the Snooker.....
I was really pleased to see Allen hold it together in the final frame, he looked uncomfortable & awkward throughout the match and I don't think he deserved that. I think this is the latest in a string of matches where Reanne has missed an opportunity. The result may have been close BUT better players have a habit of getting over the line in matches, it isn't luck. It looked to me like a very good club player having a go against an off form pro. It also reminded me of matches where i've been convinced i've had the upper hand on the verge of winning against a player better than me only to end up disappointed. Sadly I think this will be a recurring theme for Reanne this year, but at 35 what can we expect? It'll still be an achievement if she plays OK and inspires more girls to take up the game and raise the level within women's snooker.

When Allen asked for Evans to removed from the studio was a disgusting thing to do , she snubbed him with just cause, It would have been great for snooker if she won. She will get better playing guys who have high standards. She can pot balls . I would love to see her take a few big scalps in the next two years.

If it'd taken her away from a live broadcast (prevented her from doing her job) then yes but it didn't. She simply left the studio for 10 minutes so Mark could practice without being distracted, I actually think that's fair enough. Why should he be at a disadvantage to his opponent because of a pundit?
Hope she does get a few scalps, i've got a lot of time for women's sport in general and it'd be great to see more women in the game, hopefully she can be the catalyst for a few very good women to come through in future years.

i find this a little strange , if you like snooker and get somewhat enthusiastic about it , coupled with appreciating finally getting unfettered access to professional matches without the television presentation guff ' getting no more from me ' seems a bit at odds with the climate but each to their own.

Rebecca Kenna looks a decent women's prospect , i think they should give her an invitational two year card if she doesn't get high enough on the q school order of merit , wouldn't surprise me if she did the latter at all.

I guarantee you the bods at WST are very happy this morning especially those in the PR department .
I agree, I reckon WST planned this one and knew it would make big headlines etc. All good really, as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

Are the Hendry / Selby matches being played at the same time? Anyone know which ITV will be covering?

I said "they will get no more from me" meaning I am not going to bet on matches . Betting and gambling is a mugs game , Gambling is destroying peoples lives and ruining families. The odds on making money from gambling are ridiculous. You don't need to be an actuary to figure that out. I buy lottery tickets occasionally ( which is a tax on fools I know that ) some of it goes to good causes . The bookie is not a good cause . I am delighted to be getting matches for a tenner , it makes up for all the addicted who cannot stop gambling ..and there is nothing strange about that

Do the players lose their order of merit ranking points from the 2019 International championship get removed before the start of The British Open.

This tournament is a complete joke and travesty. So far the higher seeded players are 21-19. Might as well just flip a coin before the match and not bother playing. And the 2nd and 3rd seeds and the 109th and 110th ranked players playing in the first round is just stupid. I don't see a rationale for any of it. And having an English Open, British Open, and UK Championship is also dumb. I've been on the planet for 61 years and still don't know or care to find out what the difference between GB and the UK is. There, now I feel better. 😀
