Gary just got down on the shot and played the pink too fast.

I have serious concerns about my memory. I was watching this tournament early on and very much enjoying it. That was about four days ago when, for whatever bizarre reason, I completely forgot about it until now! I’ve missed most of the matches leading up to this final, because I simply forgot it was on! And to add insult to injury, it looks like this final is all but over!"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"

interesting that gary wilson in the post match interview said that he's a purist and would prefer longer matches but he thought this tournament was great and he really enjoyed it , coupled with doherty's enthusiasm for it and that rob walker seems to have been giving a mandate to promote this so it seems its wst's way for the future , shorter matches , best of 5's , 7's etc .

Long matches started going downhill years ago when they butchered the UK championship down from a two week event to a week ,then striped away the best of a 31 frames final .Keep the short format events in if thats the way but have at least another tournament with a decent long time frame ,all we have is the World Championship ,the Uk should go back to what it was as it has lost prestige and is now just another event .Maybe its tv coverage or just pandering to people with short attention spans like in cricket in which the 100 and twenty 20 is just baseball with a cricket bat .

I remember Tiger Woods giving the pundits a very hard time, but he had taken a fair bit of stick from them, and let's face it, he was at the top of his game. Wilson is trying to take that step forward in the sport and I think keeping your emotions in check is a huge part of being able to win on the big stage. Anger and frustration in snooker always leads to the dark side. Willo knows this and that's why he keeps his easy going persona, even though as he said he's trying his guts out to win. It's a problem for many these days as they're asked to answer a statement rather than a direct question, and to be fair every single question about snooker has been asked and answered, so every answer is a cliche to those of us who have played and followed the game for many years.
Best for the tv people to just shut up and let the balls do the talking, if you're interested you'll pick it up, if you're not you'll switch off, but they'll keep on trying to sell it to the newbies and tell them how tight the pockets are when a ball touches the cushion before dropping and how difficult these fast tables are when they don't have to bash the cue ball to get it further than three feet
I thought Wilson was going to win to be honest, but he found a way to lose like all the journeymen do, took his eye off quite a few pots when playing cannons, cardinal sin at that level, especially from someone who actually plays billiards to a high standard.Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair
