Yes but there wasn’t a set up like the Chinese billiards and even if there was Hendry would still have steam rolled most players as he was better than everyone else ,even O’Sullivan .Take Ronnie as a good example ,he won the Uk championship in 93 , but it took him another eight years to win the World title ,as good as he was , Hendry at the time was better .

don't know about that , didn't hendry qualify for the crucible in his first year and narrowly lost to willie thorne , second year 87 nearly made the semi final , its taken jack lisowski with all the support ten years to get into the top 16 and he's only scraping at the barrel of it , there's much more good players about now who would you rather play in a last 128 round , zhou yuelong or eddie charlton ?

No, it's not COVID. Apparently, it's personal reasons not related to COVID.

Hendry might be back from retirement for the fun of playing, for the money or for any other reason. I personally think it's putting a dent to his legacy. If I were him, I would not come back.

But we are not talking about 52 year old Hendry on the cash comeback trail or Eddie comb over Charlton who won feck all apart from winning the having the biggest chip on your shoulder open which he won every year ,Hendry in his prime was devastating and would be still be if he was transferred from his heyday to now .Most of the Chinese players are nothing to write home about anyway ,half the players winning tournaments now are the same ones winning over 20 years ago .Sport has always had people that were miles ahead of the pack ,Tiger woods , Roger Federer As two examples ,snooker is no different ,the standard all round may be higher but 90% of the players are never going to win anything .Occasionally someone from the distant rankings wins a big tournament like Jordan Brown did last season ,but he’s not going to win another event as long as the sun rises .Just my opinion .

I don't think my opinion of Hendry or his legacy will ever be dented, I like my Motorbike racing and Valentino Rossi still racing at 42, although it's sad to see the decline it's still nostalgic watching him perform.
I genuinely think I could beat Hendry in a best of 7 and many good amateurs could for that matter, i'm not convinced he'd win our league's singles but he's still the GOAT for me and seeing him make that 100 against Selt the other month took me way back.

As someone who strongly dislikes the way matches are chosen for TV, this thread got me curious now. Who did Wilson lose out to?
