Watching Murphy must be hell for you, if you think Selby gurns!

Can’t say I noticed, to be honest. What I wonder about Selby is how he got the nickname ‘Jester’. I don’t ever remember him fitting that description, and he certainly doesn’t nowadays as he’s one of the most subdued players out there.

He’s meant to be a bundle of laughs off the table apparently

Mark's a funny guy in person, 100%. Generally a really nice bloke as well, will always ask how you are/take interest in your life etc. Definitely not let 4 world titles go to his head.

Maggs doesn't seem to be the force he once was does he? Still looks capable and has a great talent but keeps breaking down at the wrong moments. I can't help feeling that all the searching for the golden cue has taken its toll on his game. If he can pot balls like he did last night then it's not his cue that's an issue it's his concentration.

Tbh I’m not one of the Selby haters, in fact I greatly admire what he has achieved in the game and the manner he has done it. He comes across well in most interviews especially those away from snooker table .
I’m afraid the public and media like a villain and because he doesn’t play like Ronnie or Judd he seems to have been labelled as one although that mantle has been taken over by Murphy recently

You would think as well having the ‘unit’ with Higgins and co his game could only improve! Maybe time to join John in those spin classes!

That anger and beating himself up seems to have gone. He used to get a lot of criticism for that, from the pundits, but now he seems to be merely ironically amused when he misses. When he misses now, it’s almost like he’s acknowledging something he knew was bound to happen.

I was thinking the same, since getting the "unit" with Higgins and McGill, they have both improved but Maguire seems to have not
                        Up the TSF! :snooker:

He can't control his supporters but it's a shame some people were clearly putting Jack off when he could have made the best break ever to make it 4-2. Even though Jack lost that frame he did amazing to open it up. I've not re-watched it yet but each time there was a cough while he was down on the shot he made the pot but didn't get the position. Ronnie can't control his fans but the commentators could help by not boot licking Ronnie every shot because the arena is full of spectators listening to the commentary.

John Parrott and his 'getting home in time for dinner when Ronnie plays' shows they are all a bunch of boot lickers trying to please the crowd and Ronnie instead of being impartial and respectful to both players. Jack could have got back in to it and possibly made it 4-2 but was put off from noise while he's down on the shot.

It was made even worse with Ken saying it was a lack of concentration from Jack. That's salt in the wound when you're dealing with noises while down on the shot but when it's Ronnie everyone is too scared to mention it including Hendry who was in commentary and if anyone would raise a concern it's Hendry.

A sad day. I have nothing against Ronnie but his fans are putting off his opponents.
For the life of me I can't understand why people need commentary and alcohol when they're attending a live sport event, the bar and those earpieces need to be done away with
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair
