Over the the last few years I thought Judd really got pretty good in every tactical aspect of the game, including snooker escapes...

He's just nowhere near his top form, Judd, and for quite some time now, actually. Sometimes he gets away with it, but he's clearly no Selby, winning matches with his C game. And surely Zhao already is so refined it takes anybody's A game to beat him.

Yes, Trump was very poor tonight. I thought Zhao was OK, some amazing pots as usual, (that cut red all the way down to the yellow pocked in frame 2 ) but with zero pressure from Judd. I think Zhao's close, but he gets a bit complacent around the 50s.

I feel a bit deflated TBH, was expecting more from that one.

Judd's game is in disarray at the moment. Not sure of he has any off table issues but he doesn't seem like he's focussed at all. Worrying signs really, can't understand how you can go from the heights he's reached over the past 3 seasons to now looking like a player struggling the get in the top 32. Right now he's not in the top 16 form wise and with only 2 months until the crucible, you don't want to be struggling for form at this stage of the season.

Well, after the 8th frame, that outcome was kinda predictable... tough luck for Ryan, that's gonna hurt. Interesting set up for the semis, though... and the all chinese final still on.

JJ just made a strange statement in the Walden / Zhao match. Zhao was approaching a century in the frame he needed to win the match. The score was 91 - 0 to Zhao and when the possible century was mentioned and the camera focused on Walden sat in his chair, JJ said, “Well, everyone in the room, except him, is willing it on.”

Why would Walden deny someone a century at 91 - 0 ??

It's the confidence of youth isn't it, fewer mental battle scars to haunt you, no sense of your own 'mortality' as it were.

So Zhao backs up his UK Championship win with a final at the German Masters soon after. I'm really curious how he will fare at the World Championship with more pressure and longer matches.
