  • Great that Matthew Stevens got through .

a lot of players produced some good displays last night to win a few frames in a row to qualify .
Stevens being one , who won 4 frames in a row .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !

Not really bothered. They’re all tough. Have a feeling in my water that he’ll draw Kyren again. McGill might be interesting.

It’s too easy to just blame the WST for everything .
The major is issue is that kids just don’t want to play for reasons that are out of WST control .
It’s doesn’t help when you’ve got the number one player and best known name saying he wouldn’t want his kids to play.
I think more money needs to be pumped in, in the amateur game.

The issue is grass roots and getting kids interested and maintaining that interest . The amateur game in the UK is the healthiest it’s been for years .
Lack of facilities for kids to play at is another issue and contrary to Trains…. train of thought they don’t need pro conditions to play on

Anyway, this subject has been done to death

                • quote to Starsky not working again.

Vafaei was talking about o sullivan calling lower ranked players ‘ numpties ‘ and that o sullivan wouldn’t encourage kids to take up the game , which john higgins apparently labelled a disgrace , whats the point of kids playing on buckets for pockets tables if its on another planet to the pro game , there’d be more kids interested if there was less of a disconnection and better understanding of safety play.

Anyway there may be a misunderstanding about the term ‘ amateur ‘ , personally i only ever saw snooker as a vehicle to become a pro , maybe yourself and others view amateur snooker as more of an enjoyment thing and not necessarily taking it up as a profession.

From my own experience and preference i wouldnt see the point of any kid interesting in becoming a pro playing on anything other than a table a pro would see fit for practice on , and the socialising aspect was completely irrelevant for me , i know it may look steep asking a youngster to play on a serious table but anything else is froth to me personally , just saying , no rhetoric or criticism meant to be conveyed.
