    • In Ronnie's match, it felt a bit like he wanted to beat John at his own game to me, maybe to prove he has that complete game. Anyone else feel that?

Will be interesting to see what Ronnie turns up today, if he plays in the same style against Judd I think he has a good chance. If he wants to match Judds long game that might prove dangerous!

I'm wondering if Ronnie wants this maybe a bit too much, there were a few shots toward the end his semi that went very awry but it didn't matter because JH was pretty much gone.
I hope not, I'd like to see him do this, he really does deserve to match Hendry's record and all that entails IMO. C'MON WONNIE!

        • Depends upon the climatic conditions today and tomorow in sheffield as to wether Trump will play at his best. If it's damp and the table slows then his timing goes awry as regards to his offset address and body movement on the strike.
It happened at the start of the tournament but receded as his confidence grew but surfaced again against Williams in the semi through tension where he missed several long balls by quite a distance when he didn't move to the right as usual and ended up hitting the cue ball where he first addresses it and if the table is slow at the start he won't get away well and that tension will surface again.

Ronnie on the other hand has no such problems with body movement as he addresses where he strikes and can adapt to slower or faster tables much better. Yes he has issues with waiting for the referees to spot colours and clean balls, with photographers and with audience members who don't have the manners to keep still in his eyeline or switch off their phones, he will of course have most of the audience on his side but that in itself brings it's problems with people shouting out.

There was a precedent set at The Masters where Rob Walker whipped the crowd up to almost Shootout levels and it was somehow accepted as a 'great' atmosphere, but for me snooker is played in a tense but reserved atmosphere where people control their emotions to allow the players to express themselves without getting put off. Maybe I'm old fashioned in this regard as I myself have a somewhat british stoicism and reserve when attending sporting events and even rock concerts where I simply sit and watch and listen and take it all in without getting overly physically excited. I don't understand this need to join in rather than simply observe and remember.
It's time to stop being polite to these dullards and eject them from the theatre at the first offence or simply ban phones from the theatre altogether like at The Masters golf at Augusta. No one has the right to muck about with an electronic device when attending a spectator event, all they want is a picture to post on Facebook or Instagram which no one takes any notice of anyway

I want climatic conditions to be perfect and the audience to show some self control so that both players can be at their best and provide us with a final that goes down in history, best of luck to both

          • For me that it is one of the most uninteresting finals ever, cause I dislike both players, though at least it could really be a good match. Other than for example 2012, when you knew there would only be one outcome for the final.
I also hope it's good because this generally has been a very disappointing world championship with only two or three great matches and nearly all the top players not playing good. Which also counts to a lesser degree for the two finalists. Trump has been great at certain times while O'Sullivan was the player, who was most consistenly like his usual self, playing his fluent breaks, but also making enough mistakes to have lost against somebody playing well.
Trump on the other hand took out Williams, who was the best player of the championship actually, but lost his semifinal with a miserable first session, and Trump gained form throughout the tournament as well as the season overall.

It will be interesting who wins the majority of the safety battles here, as I think both will take many of their chances. Trump is the better long potter, which obviously is the other option than winning safety battles to get into breaks and will take on more of this balls, but the question is if he makes enough of them to get enough chances or if O'Sullivan will feast on some of Trumps mistakes.
In the end it probably will come down to who can control his nerves better.

            • Olivier Martiel, an overly fussy referee, not good for Ronnie.

                • I really wish there was some way to watch this in Canada. TSN used to carry snooker, but now with 10 sports channels available, none carry snooker.
On another note, I understand that the final has to be over 3 days, but is there some reason that the event is not scheduled so that the final starts on Friday for a Sunday finish?

WST say that DAZN is showing it?
Also United States Snooker Association say DAZN.

IF that does not work for you have you tried any gambling sites?

Is there a protocol for what player gets the call on a toss of coin when there is a re-spotted black ?

Just go to bet365 and put a tiny bet on the game and you can watch it there
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

I don't think there is, I usually go the player that pots to Black for the tie-break but I have seen refs go to either

Don't even need to place a bet, just put the minimum to register and away you go
I have never placed a bet on there ever.

I would like to join Vmax in the grumpy old man corner, as I agree with everything he said, but he probably just wants to be on his own
