Maybe the term bullying is not appropriate, I think Higgins can do that on the table back. I suppose the thing I was meaning is aggression. Ronnie is an extremely aggressive person on the table and around the arena. Anyone that watches him live will feel an extra tension that he brings into the arena.

Neil Robertson has an arrogance that exudes around the table as though its his, but Ronnie brings something rather nasty. I feel its his way of trying to use that as he backs himself more when its a fight rather than it being about what happens on the table. He does it a lot against Selby and has shown it in the past when he's not too confident. This whole match is going to be like this, it could boil over as I sense there is going to be a situation during the match when things kick off. Whether its an issue with a photographer or the ref, Ronnie is going to be trying every trick in the book to win this.

What is this chalk incident you referred to previously with McGuire and Murphy ?

Edit… found it, hidden amongst other news 😉

Funny how it announces significant changes to the format of the UK Championship... I think I even saw the words "exciting new format" on another site, and then it turns out it's just some minor changes to the way seeding works. And a tiny little line to say the matches are still best-of-11, which is really the main thing we care about. It's a like a big "**** you" to the fans.

      • Meanwhile, better stuff from Williams this morning, but he is not getting the little wobble he needs from Trump in order to close the gap a bit.

          • Fantastic clearance from Trump at the right time. Guaranteed to level the session now, and stops any chance of it finishing 10-6.

            • Trump will sail past MJW in a few more frames , O Sullivan and Higgins will batter each other to the bitter end. Trump win win the final easily and it could be very one sided. The old boys will be shattered no matter which of them gets to the final. Ronnies behaviour is becoming a bit erratic , not a good sign

Was it Steve Davis who said something like"play like it means everything but look like it means nothing"
I don't like players showing frustration, it's a sign of weakness. I can't remember Ronnie being a table or Cue banger in his early career, seems to me its been in the last four or five years.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

That's a bit of a harsh judgement no ? I don't think it's intended as bullying or nasty..
Look at it this way: being the most popular player and the expectations of the not-always-so-educated fanboys, brings a lot of pressure. that's why Ronnie tries to shrug it off in interviews. e.g. there are more important things than snooker or the like. He plays it down and it's a way to cope with it. Obviously he loves snooker and competing but it's human to react the way he does sometimes (in my opinion). It's just the way people cope with things..people judge easily sometimes.

                      • Ronnies fanbase has always been by far the worst, which is not surprising cause he has the most fans and he also is an ass himself.

What a bad luck for John there.

                        • he has the most fans because he is extraordinary. in general, people always go overboard with anyone who is really good at something. it has nothing to do with Ronnie as a person.
would you call him an ass to his face if you sit at a table with him ? i doubt it lol..

                          • I think RO’s mental health should be the main concern. Every tiny little thing is distracting him, then he spends 20 seconds picking ‘things’ off the table.
"Kryten, isn't it round about this time of year that your head goes back to the lab for retuning?"
