  • My gut feeling says Trump will deal with the old farts over the weekend, but it's not really a super confident call.

How will opening it up help Trains ?

Im interested to know what your thought process is ?

to give keen new players experience , even if they're losing a lot they'll come back again stronger , a world away but hendry hardly won a match in his first year as a pro , if it was hard enough then its even harder now , the only way to make inroads is just experience , i have said this to you before i'd just have a fee for all new players to enter the tour , how much of a fee and how many tournaments they'd play in would be down to negotiation and assessment but personally i cant see any other way.

I don't want to be watching some club player hitting balls into the cushions just because he's got the money to pay for the privilege. Sorry, but this is professional sport, and it's supposed to be enjoyable to watch. Maybe I'll save up and run the 100m at the next olympics

just a couple of things , this isn't necessarily at you just general observations.

              1. this forum is hardly buzzing during qualifiers events and i dont think the public take much interest either , the long term goal is experience for new players to get them match hardened , enjoyment is important but if you're an anorak like me it would still be enjoyable i dont know but the long term goal is to garner new good match play players , thats not going to happen with best of 5's for a thousand pound entry fee at the q school.

              2. just going through stephen hendry's first year as a pro its very underwhelming indeed everyone has to start somewhere , and there'd still be good matches with more experienced players in the qualifiers as well , i dont see where any negative is but thats just me.

Club players won't get far enough for you to see that though
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

I prefer planes and automobiles but I see your point

If they're paying to be on the tour they'd be in at first round with the other pros. Unkess there would be two tiers of pro, but then the whole system isn't really as Trains describes

i've just looked at the 2022/23 calendar , there's five qualifiers events , didnt even see a welsh open so its probably not finalised yet , the season just played 2021/22 the top 16 had a lot of their qualifying matches held over to the main venue where most qualifying matches were in the morningside arena leicester , chase leisure centre cannock , barnsley metrodome and the marshall arena milton keynes and the english institute of sport sheffield for the worlds.
Anyway my aim would be just to increase the number of battle hardened young players to make it realistic for them to make an attempt at continuing their careers with two year cards or even getting into the top 64 over the long term , so there would be positives to take out of initial losses as the experience would still do them a lot of good , it just seems far to feeble , exclusive and hopeless for any potential new players at present.

                        The fast and the furious,
                        The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

Break of the match for sure and certainly a contendor for the frame of the tourney.

Outstanding break, given the build up to it, as good as the 92 against Carter?!?

                                brilliant either way. 😊
