He's been like it for the last few years. It's just most refs are weak and it's good to see marteel was strong enough to warn him. O'Sullivan is a disgrace to the game and I just wish those around the biased BBC would call it out more often.

I don't know what kind of hold Ronnie seems to have in the game but he gets away with so much. It's not enough that he's already a great player, allowing him to bully refs, intimidate opponents, cameramen and anyone that dare move in the arena, just who the hell does he think he is!

I agree to an extent, I think the referee needs to be assertive and sanction any nonsense that goes on. Since O'Sullivan basically rejected the warning and told Marteel to check the camera footage, that's exactly what I would do in his place. If there genuinely was nothing, I would apologise and retract the warning, otherwise I would publicly warn him for ungentlemanly conduct at the start of the 2nd session and inform him he would be docked a frame if it happened again.

Also, that thing he does where he goes to sit down when the referee is trying to replace the balls, and then gets up every 30 seconds just to say it's still wrong... I can't imagine I would have the patience for something like that. I would ask him to assist me, and if he went to sit down again, I would put the balls to the original position to the best of my ability, and then insist that he play from there.

I don't see why the referee needs to be treated as the enemy for some reason. This isn't football.

Oh well if his colleagues at Eurosport said he did nothing then we'll just have to accept the angel Ronnie's word because he's never made lied in his life!

I know he can be a pain in the a**. All I'm saying is we aren't sure what exactly happened there.

This final is already over. It's a shame as I hoped it could be a good contest but Ronnie is just so in the zone and trump is not playing with much confidence.

I said the other day that Ronnie could win this by a record score and I still stand by that. This will be completed tomorrow afternoon. 18-3 again

Actually I think it's right to have a strong ref when Ronnie is acting up. He had to pull him, he said the c word and made a gesture and it's better to warn him now. As a ref you need to stand up to O'Sullivan and circus that he sadly resorts to.

Well I just watched it back and didn't hear or see anything so where you get that from is unclear to me. Ronnie asked Martiel what he said and Martiel refused to repeat it. It's a problem with a ref with english as a second language that maybe he doesn't really know what a swear word is, maybe Ronnie said 'git' or something similar under his breath and that could be misconstrued.
As I posted at the start of the match, an overly fussy referee that Ronnie has had issues with in the past, strong ref isn't something I associate with Martiel, fussy little jobsworth with a 'look at how precise I am' attitude is how he comes over to me.

When O’Sullivan misses the yellow trying to get out of the snooker as he gets up and walks back to his seat you can see he mutters something to himself . Maybe he swore or something ?

Come on, he asked Martiel to check that the red could be hit and he replied that he'd assessed the situation which doesn't tell Ronnie that yes he agreed the red could be hit so he got Judd over to confirm it, and then had to get Judd over again when the cue ball was replaced because where Martiel replaced it the red couldn't be hit and Judd confirmed that as well and told him to move it a bit to the left.
Now what would you do if you knew the referee was wrong, simply accept it, I know for certain that I wouldn't and Ronnie has had issues with Martiel in the past, the man is a poor ref who believes his own importance above anything else.

Martiel (or any other ref for that matter) isn't overly fussy...ROS is overly obnoxious. Incredible the utter lack of respect he shows to other people at times. He's had 'issues' with many a ref...oh I'm sure it's nothing to do with ROS. What a tossser.

I'm sorry but replacing the balls after a miss isn't an adversarial process. What you do is, you say: "it needs to go a bit more to the left for me to play the shot I was trying to play last time". The referee moves it, you say you are happy, and you move on. I don't see why it has to turn into an argument at any point.

Ronnie looked fuming after the ref spoke to him and if he was guilty of what the ref accused him of doing he would probably have been laughing so maybe the ref got it wrong. Very unfair on Judd for the ref to ask him to pause for a moment while he spoke to Ronnie. If Judd had missed the yellow and Ronnie took the frame it could have made a big difference on the match.

Apparently Ronnie said on Eurosport that he is mic'ed up while he's playing for a Netflix documentary. Maybe the producers have asked him to create some extra drama for their ratings

So RO May have said ‘something’ but we don’t know what or indeed if. But he’s received an official warning anyway. Or the referee was possibly being awkward, but we don’t know that for sure either?
