I live in Berlin, and speak German, so it wasn't a problem - but 99% of Germans speak English, and they speak it better than 98% of the English. It was just a bit comic hearing them shout "Come on, Jimmy" in English, but with a thick German accent.

Might pop back to the Tempodrome for another afternoon/evening there before it finishes With so few big names making it this year, it's quite an open and exciting tournament.
    2am

    • Great write up SFTTE, I wouldn't be over critical on the scoreboard front, pretty sure this has happened at a few events. I think it's faulty scoreboards rather than a venue issue. I agree it's not good enough.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

      • Good win there for the Milkman, Daniel Wells has been hard to beat this season.

and a 146 - very rare break that
(less than a dozen I believe as opposed to the 150+ maximums )

edit - actually 28 by my records - still a lot less than 147s

            • Watched Robert Milkins 147 about ten minutes ago, was pretty fast, could have been inside 8 minutes.

Not that rare, my highest break and if I had a quid for every time I’ve told some body what it is and they’ve replied ‘didn’t you want a 147 ‘ I’d be a millionaire 🙂🤣

I watched Robertson get to 13 red and pinks this afternoon , a pink max was on . Now that must a real rarity !

                • Snooker! What a game... always knew it was a confidence thing, but never better displayed in the Wakelin v Robertson game! Chris on the crest of a wave with nothing to lose against a man trying to re establish himself as a world champion for a second time! What a difference expectations make in players minds! Always thought Wakelin looked to have a great game and I'm so pleased to see him enjoy some success. 👏👏

                    • First time Lisowski finds himself at the business end of a tournament as the favourite rather than an underdog. If he somehow still makes a mess of this opportunity, I'll be very worried for him.

Not a criticism of the player or person but i don't really find any interest in Lisowski's progress at all, is there some expectation thing with him in the media or with internet posters ? If there is i see it as something of nothing really, Ricky Walden lost 5 - 1 yesterday, is that any less unexpected than Lisowski's possible failing's or less interesting ? Just healthy competition really, and a good thing too.

                        • Not sure what you mean exactly. Lisowski has been lurking towards the bottom of the top 16 for years now without winning anything. I can't really think of another player in a similar position, except maybe David Gilbert.

I'd say theres roughly a top 8 who are heavy hitters you can see winning things, not sure if players ranked 9th - 12th or 13th -16th ever are expected to win much.
There isn't much silverware with them either is there?

                            • What was Tom Ford laughing about when Lisowski underhit coming in and out of baulk and ended up snookering Ford behind the baulk colours in the last frame ?

I count 19 reasonably big ranking titles between them, and 3 Masters titles. It's true that Murphy and Bingham are contributing most of those, but everyone has at least won something.

I was busy last night, so I'm not going to comment too much on a match I didn't see, but yeah... Another chance missed for Lisowski. So it's another title going to the old-timers then...
