I was busy last night, so I'm not going to comment too much on a match I didn't see, but yeah... Another chance missed for Lisowski. So it's another title going to the old-timers then...
Peter Ebdon will be pulling his hair out , just as well you didn't see it. That missed red will haunt him , he must feel like kicking Lisowski

It’s not the missed red that will haunt him but the poor positional shot before that to get on a red . It’s was a schoolboy error and that put unnecessary pressure on that later pot .

      • What a great crowd at this event… I can’t believe there aren’t more people playing snooker in Germany considering the support for this event .

        • Yes Starsky #138 Lichtenberg seemed to get relegated like a damp squib last season and Kleckers isn't doing much, hopefully Ursenbacher keeps his tour place from the one year list from the Crucible qualifiers, if he doesn't have a decent run at the Welsh Open next week.

          • Good to see Ali Carter happy and lifting the title. Certainly seems working with Henry has changed his mindset and he seems a lot more positive even when things aren't going for him. Carter is his own worst enemy and fighting demons all the time has been to the detriment of his career to date.

Still young enough to have a good few years and it would be a shame if he didn't manage to win a triple crown event as he's too good not to.

            • I have to say, I think Ford was also was much better in the mental side of things in this comp . Previously he would have thrown his toys out of the pram with some of the misses and bad run he had .

I heard the commentators saying he has been getting coaching from somebody from Steve Peters camp and I think it showed .

I heard the same, some lady I think I it is. Progress is being made, hopefully to fruition in the near future for Ford

I interviewed both Rolf Kalb and Simon Lichtenberg for a piece about the German Masters that, in the end, the magazine didn't want (after I did the interviews, before I wrote the piece.)

Kalb told me there's only about 4,000 regular snooker players in Germany (out of a country of 88 million.) That would make sense - there are only two proper snooker "clubs" for practice that I know of in Berlin, and only a couple more public pool halls with snooker tables as an extra.

He also told me about 2/3 of the Tempodrom attendance is non-Berlin - ie fans travelling from across the country to Berlin to watch the snooker.

So far play to them - the German fans take it very seriously, and are knowledgeable, and didn't seem as disappointed as the UK commentators at just watching some high-quality snooker rather than watching The Big Names we heard so much about.

Simon has taken a break from the pro tour to go to University but hopes to come back after his studies.

                  • I have friends that go to the Mosconi cup and meet up with a group of German fellas each time. They are absolutely obsessed with nine ball. My pal's are typical British, like a pint and a good bit of grub then the pool but they can't get the German lads to do anything except find a nine ball pool hall and play all day.
If snooker could tap into that enthusiasm, it wouldn't be long before there were tens of thousands players in Germany.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Thanks for reply and info , very interesting .

As INE says , there is an untapped market in Germany as there is in many European countries .

                        • Austria's Florian Nussle in the Q Tour Play Off as a stand in for Daniel Wells 2 matches from a tour place.
Hard to call from the three British players left, i'd view the Austrian as the underdog.

                            Ross Muir should be favourite.
