Make sure you clean all old chalk off the tip first nifty, give it a light sand papering. This Taom doesn't sit on top of old chalk well. Sorry if you already did that but I'm surprised with the miss cues if you did. Cheers.

Ah thanks CC. I just scraped it over the existing chalk. It wasn’t going on too well. I’ll try it again with another cue which has a new tip on. Not going to give up on my 15 quid just yet.

      • I disagree Nifty , I know lots of club players who have changed over.

CC is correct , you need to take the other chalk off.
I’ve found you also need to ruff up the tip more with this chalk as well otherwise you get the odd miscue . I use the needle gadget when this happens and it sorts it out .

        • Taom chalk is the best thing that has happend in the game for years ,there’s really no need for anyone to use the old junk stuff anymore .

Another update. I’ve decided to give up with the TOAM chalk and go back to triangle. I was just getting too many miss-cues. As per my previous post I hardly ever had a miss-cue with Triangle. I was finding it was happening when I tried a screw back shot. The white would jump over the object ball. Never ever did that previously. So after giving it some thought I decided I would rather have a kick (which is rare for me) than a miss-cue which is embarrassing and a foul. I’ve got a tournament tomorrow and don’t want to look like a complete numpty.

                          • Just had a thought about the Taom. If it doesn't sit well with other chalk, should you not use it with elk masters? Aren't they impregnated with chalk.
Best of luck Nifty, give them hell.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Not impregnated, the chalk just sits on the outside and when the tip is cut and shaped it's gone. Of course some people don't cut and shape and simply play with the tip as it is which obviously means they're going to miscue very, very often no matter which chalk they use.

                              • I think the benefits of Taom chalk far outweigh the negatives ,yes you can get miscues on occasions but I’m not sure the cloth has anything to do with it ,the miscue comes before the cloth comes into play ,whatever cloth it is .
