When Ronnie's tip came off the second time did it touch the white, if so is that classed as a foul stroke

Adding to that question, I have 2 more please. What happens if the 15 minutes time to change the tip is lapsed? Is the player allowed to practice a few shots after the new/existing tip is put on?

By the rules it would be yes - but woe betide any ref that calls foul when it happens!

This 15 minutes is not in the rules but (to me) a "tournament guide" and if say the TD is fixing the tip and takes longer then the player would not penalised for that delay. Again with having a knock on the practise table before returning, discretion of the TD/match referee. As long as the opponent s not being put-off to the determent of their game, or the player is "taking the ****" then I would start saying "if not back playing the match in 5 mins, frame conceded", or some such.

            Thanks for clearing that up.

It's a good little earner for us cue doctors/makers, twenty quid earned this week so far just to shine a ferrule and stick on a tip , but yes it amazes me that anyone finds it difficult to stick a piece of leather onto the end of a stick.

Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

                      vmas - ssshhh!

I am sure it should be...
"It is really difficult and could damage the cue irreparably, so do not try it yourself and always use a highly qualified cue doctor/tipper!!!!"

Continuing with the same tip today. The commentators said yesterday that he will have Les Dodd change it. Hope it stays put.

Only time I’ve had a tip come off is when I bought some cheap superglue from ASDA. 3 wee tubes for a quid. Useless.
I’m not surprised that some players can’t put a tip on. Some are just lazy and some have just been spoilt by their parents or elders doing everything for them. My mates young lad can’t even repair a puncture on his bike. Daddy always does it for him. When I was growing up I was never without one of those Dunlop Repair Kits. Sticking a tip on a cue was simple. You’d never ever dream of asking someone else to do it. Probably it’s very different for these very talented kids. They’re surrounded with folk all eager to help.

Ronnie said he will send it to John Parris for a re-tip and a new ferrule. Hope it's sorted.

Some people up one of my clubs travel miles to get a tip out on at the Parris workshop ….

A tenner a pop and they use Elkmaster so you’ve always got a good chance of getting a dud tip anyway

I guess having to do tips in my club as a kid to get free time has set me on the road to achieve greatness ( in the tip game anyway )
