I know it's not his fault and it's my perception of him but why does Shaun Murphy always look so smug and pleased with himself, I can't stand it, sorry Shaun. rant over.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

I think it's because he is always so smug and pleased with himself.

Me and the missus both think Shaun is a bit up himself, but he's playing well and I hope it's a Murphy v Carter final.

He oozes pomposity, and those faces he pulls. But yeah, he's playing well atm so good luck to him.

That first miss Wilson just mentioned drift in the third frame didn't drift he just missed, it was just thick, and he didn't see it drift either.

Maybe they (the pros and many others I might add) don't understand how these aramith balls react on contact with each other at times. Missing thick is indictative of a prolonged contact, too much friction on the contact point can be caused by dirt, chalk, moisture in the cloth or atmosphere causing increased resistance or simply an area on a ball that isn't as highly polished as the rest of the ball.
That's the problem with aramith phenolic resin as it's a softer material than it's predecessor super crystalate, there can be no chalk or dirt on the contact point yet still there can be a poor contact. These players are wringing their hands sometimes when conditions aren't perfect and they're missing balls thick on a regular basis, Murphy had a few as well last night and was shaking his head at times in disbelief with the simple ones he missed.
Either they don't understand or they're under orders not to say anything derogative about the equipment they're using.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

What on earth is wrong with Phil Yates. He says "It's been 1106 days since Shaun did ..." whereas any normal person would say 3 years. He seems obsessed by numbers.

Fair play, I think you can be as smug and pleased with yourself as you want, when you can play like that. Brilliant stuff from Murphy.

He was excellent all week wasn't he, very well deserved win. Carter's expression of resigned disbelief, when Murphy potted that last opening red, was very funny.

What’s more important to me than liking a personality is appreciating a players game. Murphy has a talent and game that is worthy of a second WC title, and that’s the kind of style I’d like to see it won in. Hope he inspires others to play this way also too, being able to scrap it is a necessary asset to have but you just can’t argue with one visit frame winning snooker.

Well done, his potting in the last few weeks showed he had something big coming.

Well done Smurph. Strange how he’s only got the one WC. Might have a fiver on him to win it this year. Maybe peaked too early tho. Ronnie will be favourite no doubt.

Shaun, considering his cue action and his natural ability to practically pot any ball, without a doubt is the greatest underperformer in modern snooker IMHO, even more than Neil Robertson...
When he is playing like this you get the feeling every other frame could be a maximum.

By the way, that perception of him being smug... I'm pretty sure he's just trying to cover quite a lot of insecurities. It's a persona.
                                "That pocket moved!"
