I accept my personal thoughts on his style are irrelevant, but I don’t feel it’s actually helping/working for him. I think it’s a useful asset to help scrap through longer sessions that he will encounter at the worlds but not so much in shorter formats. Again opinion.

How long has Allen been deploying this new style of play ?.
When he was being more successful earlier in the season I didn’t notice any change in the way he played.
Just like Trump when he was dominating there is no way one player can maintain that form and success in the modern game and any losses might not necessarily be down to this change he has made .

I don't believe he gained that position using his current style of play though which is the point in question, to my knowledge he has only adopted this style of play as recently at the Gran Prix. And yes he did win in the final but only after losing a 5 frame advantage and falling over the line in the decider. He had worm himself down with his own negative play to the extent he struggled to regain his scoring.
