I don’t think Murphy is smug really ,just looks hyper focused and he loves the game ,at some point after his playing days are over I can see him being on the board or with major involvement in the game ,he just seems the type .Carter couldn’t have done much against that standard of play ,it was great to watch someone playing pretty much no miss snooker ,although maintaining that high level can’t last forever.

I shudder to to think how good Shaun can become if he continues to lose weight and get proper fit.
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

I'm not so sure about his fitness actually hindering him that much in the past... in my eyes it's a shift in the overall mindset, the whole approach to the game and being a pro... and then the weight loss is just an integral part of that shift.

There always have been outbursts like this in Shaun's game (remember when he should have made five maximums once, including back to back maximums...?). But he's always been prone to throw in the odd mistake, out of nowhere, a total loss of concentration it seems.
He just got rid of that over the past week and if he really were able to sustain this (which I doubt), yeah... frightening, but in a good way.
        "That pocket moved!"

OK, sorry, he's not pompous and smug, he just acts as though he were.

          The fast and the furious,
          The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

The weight loss will have a major bearing on his chances at sheffield this year as he won't have the burden of carrying what amounts to a ten year child around for two weeks. Physical tiredness leads to mental tiredness which is probably why he's failed in his last two world finals.
