Phil Yates called the foul by Mark Williams an occupational hazard but in a short match it was careless of Mark to even risk an in-off when it could cost the frame and see him go 3-1 behind in a best of seven.

I didn't see all the match but it's some type of shot when he's just low on the blue, wrong side, and he can create a big angle to get round the table, I didn't see him try it.
Wouldn't surprise me if he just gets the cue ball bouncing.

We have all said it ourselves about pundits saying "I have not seen this person playing", etc.!
I think Stephen Hendry has been hanging around the old pundits/commentators at BBC who are all more interested in their golf-game than keeping up to date on the sport they are being paid to comment on!

Can't really argue with Murphy on this, they all should be up to date on the sport they get paid to talk about, when they aren't it paints them as out of touch dinosaurs. Especially when it comes to the women's game and those coming up through the ranks.

Murphy is spot on when he says lack of knowledge is sometimes displayed like a badge of honour. In Hendry's case he cements this by saying he has never seen Baipat Siripaporn play when he could have easily made something up to gloss over it. Very insulting to Baipat Siripaporn that Hendry is unable to give an opinion on her game and can't even be bothered to make one up but what makes it worse is that Hendry's lacklustre attitude towards keeping up to date makes Phil Yates look good and the sooner the powers that be realise Yates is useless in the commentary box the better.

Murphy sounds disingenuous by first praising O'Sullivan for sharing his mental health issues and then puts a dig in by saying he's 'going through it' which could be seen as a suggestion O'Sullivan is making up reasons for not playing in tournaments.

Dennis Taylor roughly around 2008 saying he'd never been to any qualifiers in Prestatyn yet played golf there with Jimmy Cricket still for me takes the biscuit when he lives probably not much more than a half hour drive from there and the qualifiers were being held there I think for over a decade.
But lets be honest its only because of Chinese investment in their players that this issue gets to the fore at all, for the most part if it wasn't for their investment we wouldn't be seeing any new players anyway sadly.
Murphy, Hendry and O'Sullivan were all beneficiaries of good financial backing in their youth.
