That's why I think he will tumble down the rankings over the next 18 months.
Good call. I sense this vibe too. When Judd first burst onto the scene he played 'naughty snooker', now it's 'nervous snooker'. Sure, he can make HUGE pots but his cue-ball control is not A1 and it's the easy balls he misses that really count in the end.

Is it just me or does Elliot Slessor's cue make a horrible, tinny noise when striking the cueball?

probably got one of those "really hard" tips. a few of the cues now sound very tinny

        • A nice maximum by Kyren there, some difficult cuts to deal with

But I do wish he would stop the whibble/whibble/swipe/swipe in his pre-shot routine

          • 55k to Kyren Wilson for the maxi unless someone equals it.

              • I was watching the Lisowski match, they didn't even mention it. They normally cut away for the colours but nothing.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

                • What a load of twaddle from Dominic Dale just then with the cue ball dropping into the pocket after stopping longer than momentarily.

As clearly defined in Sec 3.9 Ball on Edge of Pocket, the cue ball falling into the pocket has absolutely nothing to do with whether Noppon's turn being over or not (unlike what DD said).
Also if the cue-ball had dropped into the pocket AGAN after being replaced and no stroke been played, it would NOT be a foul (unlike what DD said) and would have just been replaced again.
There is no limit as to how many times the ball will be replaced if necessary.

Sec 3.9. Ball on Edge of Pocket
When a ball falls into a pocket without being hit by another ball, and:
                  (a) being no part of any stroke in progress, it shall be replaced and any points scored shall count.
                  (b) If it would have been hit by any ball involved in a stroke:
                  (i) with no infringement of these Rules (including cases where an infringement would have occurred but for the ball falling into a pocket), all balls will be replaced and the same stroke played again, or a different stroke may be played by the same striker at their discretion;
(ii) if a foul is committed, the striker incurs the penalty prescribed in Section 3 Rule 11, all balls will be replaced and the next player has the usual options after a foul.
                  (c) If a ball balances momentarily on the edge of a pocket and then falls in, it shall be considered potted or pocketed and shall not be replaced.
A consultation period starts when the decision is made to replace the ball(s).

Probably the only situation where when replacing a ball, it's deliberately not put back in exactly the same place.

I Had a go with his cue and it felt like he was using a stone as a tip, I have absolutely no idea how he plays with it
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

Big signs of that today, he looks a bit lost out there, not really looking like he wants to be there... 🤔

I'm beginning to wonder if Judd's snooker career has peaked.

I don't think so. He has age on his side.

                            • Well, he may not have another season where he wins seven events, so maybe he's peaked in that sense. But it seems like players peak at 45 these days, so it's a bit early to write him off.

I do think if the negativity gets hold of him regarding all the punditry that talks about his " cueing across the ball" technique etc, it could well cut his career short.
