  • That was fun. More of the same please.

    • Not seen anyone like Si since Hendry came onto the scene. Makes a great change from watching Selby & Allen grind it out slowly.

      • Nice piece on Si...

His father trained him for 13 hours a day. Now Si Jiahui is closing in on the final of the World Snooker Championship in a bid to be the sport’s youngest ever champion

        • No session to spare then... Too bad for Selby and Allen, I think they could have taken the table for an extra session in the afternoon.

          • Can anyone explain...a few frames ago the difference in points was 31 with all colors and one red remaining, no miss was called because - as Dennis said snookers were required.
How can snookers be required in this case? I fail to see it (but i was happy no miss was called as i want Luca to win)

            • It's funny, after all of those superlatives for Si early on in the session, along the lines of "this is incredible" and "we've never seen anything like this", he is now losing the session.

              • Should there be a rule like this? Three times, if a player plays slow intenionally, he/she loses the frame. A time limt can be set per shot or the ref can decide if the player's taking too long to play a shot.

                • Well, the match looked over at 14-5, but not so much at 14-10. I remember back in 2007 how Stephen Maguire failed to win that last frame of the third session to make it 15-9 against Higgins, and Higgins came back to beat him in the end. Brecel has already done it against O'Sullivan from a similar position, so I think it could be an interesting afternoon tomorrow.

                    -
                    The fast and the furious,
                    The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

                    • Si played a poor choice to try to hold for the brown with a soft screw on the green instead of punching it in with a stop shot stun, asking for a decel there, but he'll learn.

but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

And classic Selby this afternoon, somehow taking control of the match from nothing, like he did against Higgins. Seems to always happen for him in the second or third session of a match.

Looking forward to more fireworks tonight.
That's when his opponent has finally fallen into despair. It's why he does it and the only way he wins. You need to pick up a cue sometime and see what it's like to be on the end of such tactics, not enjoyable at all.

                        • Nah, I'm not quite ready to take on Selby yet.

                            • I wonder if Si threw away his chance of reaching the final last night. That missed green is going to keep you up all night, a 2 frame swing is massive and with Brecel already having come from behind knows he can do it, not sure if Si has the resilience to deal with an onslaught. I just think Brecel will nick this in the end, he's got nothing to lose and I always think being a few behind in the last session isn't the worst position to be. All the pressure on the guy in front, we'll really know more today about the pair of them.

I think he'll get through. Luca needs to win the session 7-2 and Si has been playing too well for that to happen, even if his standard drops
