Can't be asked to quote verbatim but he was just spoon feeding the presenter and micro whining about the length of frames, no decent feedback basically.

The tactical battles between players are fascinating for many of us and just seeing players bashing the balls around and leaving each other a chance (which has happened regularly in the Brecel-Si game), is not good snooker in my opinion.
You clearly don't understand what's going on in the Selby Allen match. There are no clever tactical battles going on, both players are simply trying to dismantle each others concentration in order to gain advantage on an easy potting table rather than take on shots to pot balls to gain points in order to win, which is what's happening in the other semi.
Maybe the pockets being so generous is the reason for the way that both semis have taken different routes, in one both players are using them to their advantage and in the other both players are scared to give the other any kind of chance for fear of an easy run out.
Mark Williams recognised this with his negative break off shot, too afraid to leave any kind of long red.
Time to go backwards in order to go forwards ? Maybe the game would be more conducive to open snooker if the pockets were tighter and both players knew that any chance of a long red doesn't mean automatic frame winning breaks which is so often the case these days.

          • I actually don't mind commentators and pundits saying they don't like something they're watching. It really gets on my nerves when I'm watching cycling and it's a boring stage where nothing happens, but the commentator keeps coming up with the usual platitudes like "this is absolutely magnificent" or "what a day this has been" and screaming at the end as if we're watching something super exciting. It's just so fake and obnoxious.

I don't mind them saying the snooker is crap if it is, but of course if someone is going to be negative any time the match goes tactical, they shouldn't be in the studio as a snooker expert.

                  Thanks. Sorry I missed it.

One of them will realise when the other one's gone and then go for it, probably Selby. I don't know how it's going as I'm not watching but that's what he does and Allen is trying to do the same.

Agreed. Sadly it appears that some people posting on here don’t understand the intricacies of the game of snooker. It is a game of the mind as well and if you are mentally tough (as both Selby and Allen are, but Selby in particular) then it can have a massive impact on how you play the game. And why shouldn’t it?

Mentally tough ? Allen put on lots of weight due to depression and comfort eating and Selby went missing for a season with mental health problems. The intricancies of the game of snooker do not include rolling into the pack time and again in order to gain a re-rack.

How many re-racks have we had in the last 19 frames?

                          • I watched the other semi yesterday and now this one.
They’re being played on two different planets.

                            • well, 10-9 now, both trying to take no risk, then making mistakes, then the other misses, and the other misses... if these two keep on grinding each other it might happen that the winner will be so tired that Si / Luca will have the trophy served on a silver plate
