Yeah, might cost him today, but I wouldn't be too worried for the future. Trump didn't have another plan at 20 either, and neither did Zhao Xintong. Or Brecel for that matter, although you could argue he still doesn't. As long as he's not completely incapable of learning, like Lisowski, he has plenty of time to work on his game.
Yeah, I thought of Trump as well. He certainly has learned it. And Si's positional play seems already better than young Trumps.
The match went as I expected, momentum is so important in these long frame matches, that's why Selby is so tough to beat because he knows that you can't afford to let a player get on a run so ties you up and makes it impossible to do.
Si as I said lost it last night. Today was just a hangover for him from that collapse and Luca sensed it and relaxed and played perfectly. He knew just when to play safe and when to take a risk. Hopefully this doesn't destroy Si's confidence, can be very difficult picking yourself up after such a loss. He must just see it as a great achievement rather than a missed opportunity.
Luca needs to play ultra aggressive in the final, I see it as the only way he can beat either Allen or Selby. If he gets sucked into any sort of protracted safety or tactical or mind games he will be destroyed. He must play this on his terms, even if it's reckless at times.
I really hope Si will recover from this defeat. It won't be easy to get a defeat in the biggest match of your life of your head, after you led 14-5 already. But I hope with a bit more time having passed Si will just see the whole picture, that he sensationally reached the semifinal of the World Championship and can hang on also with the top players. Then he needs continue to work on his all-around game.
I only started watching the Brecel Si match when Si was leading 14-7, i kind of suspected that score was a bit of a fluke and that seems how its panned out.
I guess Brecel will do what Murphy was saying in commentary and open the reds putting Selby and Allen's potting under pressure but i do expect either of the latter to beat LB.
Just my 5p.
Si on what I've seen from him is a top 10 player. All he needs is more experience and improve his safety game (trapping the opponent). He potting and positional play is already there. He reminds me of a young Hendry.

I can imagine Si winning major tournaments if he improves his matchplay while maintaining a fantastic potting ability.
