It does carry Ranking Points (well this version) and it is an "invitational" as it is not a "full" event for all 128 only.

a number of previously named players (all top rankers) have now dropped out - probably enjoying their Caribbean holidays!

Well amateurs can get two year cards from the one year list, Daniel Wells did last year.
