Careless pretty much sums up his whole day. There is definitely a player in there but he can't play so lackadaisical.

Yeh agree, looks like he is playing angrily fast, probably too fast for his own tempo. He can play for sure.

He had chances to win the group. Should really have beat Jamie Jones 3-1. He struggles with his concentration. Always has done. Maybe that’s why he plays so fast? If he stops to think his mind maybe wanders a bit. Just a theory.

He definitely had the chances in that group Nifty, very, very poor cue ball control let him down. On one break he was bang in amongst the balls, going well on thirty or so, had a little screw off a black on the spot for his next red, balls in the open and he screwed behind another red, blocking his intended red. That is nothing to do with ability, that's just lack of care.

He's got some sort of clinchers disease right now. His problems are definitely mental and maybe he has to consider working with a sports psychologist.

He had that group sewn up, one red away from qualifying, he chose to play it as though he expected to miss. When you are on frame and match ball, you commit to it, not play it with a defensive approach.

That tells me he's got a lot of mental scars from recent losses and this is another one he's added. I do worry for his career, he may only be 33 but it feels as though he's on the way down and he doesn't have the belief in his game and technique.
