I've lived in north London all my life, the closest I've ever been to the Alexandra Palace was passing by on a train at the station, useless little titbit for the day

ever thought of going to the event?
Geographically it is probably the closet snooker event to me but never wanted to go into London much

Another useless titbit. I sat some of my accountancy exams there in the 1970’s. All I can remember is a huge big hall with loads of desks.

I could go Dean but I'd be slightly more interested in the Brentwood Centre for the English Open or even the Morningside Arena in Leicester, neither would be much of an ask for me if set aside the time for it.

Note to commentary booth, stop pandering to this psychology garbage, Lisowski is playing well, this isnt tennis you're sat in your chair and can't do anything.

I went to Brentwood centre last year, it was set up well in the arena and looks just like other events when sat in the audience, it's just the centre itself that lacks a little i.e. outdoor catering bar and only a small area to sit inside where there was a small screen or two. Went Ally Pally two years ago , it's a great building set high on the hill with great views and good facilities inside. York this year was the best though so far of my three events visited.

Yeh, gotta agree. As soon as he has a decent day they think he must of changed something - he's a professional snooker player of course he's going to play well sometimes...

I don't think he played that well, I know the break stats will say different but there was no pressure on him in the first four frames as Brecel was awful, yet he had enough chances to at least share them.
His safety was very poor and lazy as usual.

Couldn't believe the last safety from Jack after all the hard work and a great break from where the balls were! He left himself open when it should've been water tight, with an absolute nothing shot. Hard to see he's changed his mental approach at all tbh with that shot. Luckily for him, Brecel was well spent by then even though he made an effort to get a snooker.

Higgins, Selby, Ron etc.... could have been a different story!!

Totally agree, that was sheer laziness, a tight safety shot/ possible snooker and Luca doesn't get a sniff. Was it the frame before he grazed a red on a standard positional shot and ended up having to play a plant, again just carelessness.

I think this is not a free ball. The ref called it a free ball. Thoughts? Murphy v Anda. Murphy had the cue ball in hand and the red was the ball on.

It does look in the image that there is enough room for the cue ball to pass the Black to hit the extreme right side of the Red; images and TV "angles" can do strange things.
Obviously the referee judged that there was not enough room to pass the Black.
Do you know the time this happened (frame, score?)

Found it - end of Frame 1

Shaun had ball in hand and referee gave the free ball - to me that should not be a free ball because there is at least one place in the D where the cue ball CAN hit both extreme edges of the Red ball.

From purely watching on TV I don't think it is a Free Ball.

I will try to check the time. Thanks.

Frame 1. Time, just after 37 min and 45 sec.
