Honestly what's the point, I would rather see the prize given for two normal147s in a single match
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Couldn't agree more INE, cheesy nonsense that awards a vast sum of money for what is actually not much of a feat in snooker terms, just potting one more ball. Mind you saying that, I bet a lot of the players are practicing the black to gold ball positional shot and making sure the ball rolls along the cushion snugly..... πŸ˜‰

Surely the golden ball can be moved off the cushion during the course of the frame and as long as it's not potted it will stay where it rests - I suppose they know what they are doing

Sepp Blatter might have had a hand in the idea you never know.

Where are the spectators? Hardly anyone there. Ahh, I know why, some Saudi Prince bought all the tickets and wanted the arena for himself.

The rails look a similar colour to the Strong, but none of the rest of it does. Probably bespoke.

                    Be interested to know more.

Table has that same light golden/orange hue to it that the BCE tables of early/mid 1980s had.

(Edited to add: oh, not up close they don't. Up close they are a horrible fake gold, from the top picture they have that pleasant golden 'amber' look of early 80s BCE tables.)

WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL THE SPECTATORS, THOUGH?

I'm pleased for the lesser known players getting a game and some experience but just bin that ball, it's not needed, snooker is fantastic as it is
If there turns out to be a world shortage of varnish, it's all gone on the table cushions.

It's a bit weird hearing the interviewing in the arena echoing around in the emptiness..... Felt like I was going to see some tumbleweed roll past in the background.

Basically deserted. Will Riyadh get the same treatment Hull got, and get dumped for not pulling in enough punters?

There's no rest at the top end of the table in this tournament - only at the baulk end. Just caught Ali Carter out. Presumably that's as a rest would get in the way of the Riyadh branding on the table?

I see Tatiana’s got flared bottoms on. Are they back in fashion? I’ve got a couple of pairs in the back of the wardrobe lol.

Tried to make a screenshot of the shoddy table workmanship on the middle pocket, but Eurosport doesn't let you capture screenshots - but watch out for it on the close-ups of the middle pocket. Big ugly botched patch between the leather and net, and the cloth and cushion.
