147 are common these days and snooker need a shake-up and I welcome the golden ball. Its not a gimmick when top money are involved and how it is done. I mean the miss rule is no more or less gimmick and we saw how that change over the years so havng an additonal more difficult ball and up the prize money can only be a good thing. If anything it will take some of the the spotlights away from darts a less classy sport in my opinion.

Not keen on gimmicks like a golden ball 167, but it got folk talking. Atleast ronnie won.
disappointing none of the players had balls enough to say what about tradition of the game, especially if the Saudi event became a main tour open.
Jack lisowski saying its good to modernise and tshirts are better than waistcoats. Its snooker, not pool or darts.

like Tiger woods chip at Augusta, it will be replayed again and again over many years and become legendary whether we like it or not.

I was bored of it after the first game and am glad this is now over. From the tacky golden ball to the gold spray painted cushion rails and garish carpet, it was everything I expected for a country which cares more about trying to show off it's wealth than doing something positive for the game.
Once they get bored of snooker, they'll ditch this and move on to something else they want to own for a short period of time. These people are doing this for their own egos rather than because they are huge supporters of snooker and it's a sad day that when world snooker and the players talk of growing the sport, they simply mean selling out to the highest bidder.

Snooker need to internationalise and take opportunities wherever it may be.

-The fast and the furious,
The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

Whole tournament was pretty disappointing. Short format and small field doesnβt go well together for me, especially if you want the tournament to be prestigious. Other than the prize money, it was worse than the home nations tournaments, especially when you factor in the empty venue for 90% of the games. Even when audiences were bigger, they were all fiddling with their phones whenever the camara panned round. Saudis approach to sport recently is pretty odd. They pay big for sporting events, whether it's snooker, boxing or football, but when it comes to it, they never get the crowds in, and things always fall flat.
