Let's be honest .... Snooker in Saudi is just another pawn in the politics game.
Show some decent money ... and the players will sing the praises and lie so much they'll grow snooker cue Pinocchio noses
( It's not just snooker though, it's just one of many sports ).

Other than the prize money, it was worse than the home nations tournaments, especially when you factor in the empty venue for 90% of the games. Even when audiences were bigger, they were all fiddling with their phones whenever the camara panned round. Saudis approach to sport recently is pretty odd. They pay big for sporting events, whether it's snooker, boxing or football, but when it comes to it, they never get the crowds in, and things always fall flat.
The price of tickets might be too high and restricted to rich people only. It was like that in China but recently they reduce the price of tickets and made it accessable to more people and the venue filled up.

Lolz yeh, Ronnie talking it up big time because he played 3 bo7's and won a cool 1/4 of a million for winning those 3 matches. TBH who wouldn't love that but yeh, greed makes people say whatever brings in more easy money.

The problem is WST don't want to allow the Saudis to creat bigger tournaments than will undermine the existing history of the game so this is what you get. Nice bonus for the top boys.

Bit scary though isn't it, that money can influence so much, who knows what it could lead to in the future. ( Ronnie playing in full sheikh's outfit ).
Look at what happened to the Golf ..... never mind the Football !!!

What did David Hendon say about going to Saudi Arabia? Phil Yates as well, its not like they're a bunch of cheapskate clowns on the take that you can't just flush away.

In the USA electric chair, lethal injection, firing squad, hanging, gas chamber etc etc, privately owned prisons lobbying congress for 'three strikes and you're out' legislation, every other person is a gun nut, armed police, genocide Joe is the president, monsanto GM foods legal, no holiday pay for workers, go bankrupt if you get sick, Fentanyl epidemic, 800 + military bases all over the planet but not a scary place at all
Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare
but don't try to get yourself elected, for if you do you'll have to cut your hair

Two clueless so-called 'pundits' who are dumbing down the game and making it unbearable to watch. The last tournament final I saw had Yates and Hendry in commentary and the contrast between the two was painful. Stephen trying to provide some meaningful commentary about the frame in progress and Phil chipping in with useless facts about other players and other matches and his relentless pursuit of poetic phrases. Not once did they converse with each other. David Hendon talking about snooker like it's football is infuriating so I can't watch ITV coverage when a non-ex-pro is in the commentary box. Roll on WC and I'm praying JV will be there. He's not everyone's cup of tea but at least he's a good commentator that talks about the frame. Phil even gives away frame scores on other tables when viewers might not want to know that information. It doesn't occur to him to warn viewers he's about to share results of other matches.

Hendry doesn't need the money but he stays until late to commentate and appear in the studio which gets a big thumbs up from me. I'm surprised some of the players haven't complained about the sub-par commentary in recent years but maybe they don't care as long as prize money isn't affected.

Yes its disappointing Joe Johnson and Hallett for example have trod on for years with Hendon, they could play the game, Hendon hasn't a clue, contributes nothing and seems to have an ego as well, he's never wrong and never corrected, theres something very odd there.
It's sad that it takes a six figure player like Ali Carter to speak the truth, he said that Phil Studd (another clown) has never picked up a cue in his life. You'd have thought Neal Foulds would have asked to remove Yates after that surnames nonsense commentary a few years ago, i don't know.

If there's nothing better to say than that in commentary I'd rather cut my tongue out than make that remark.... Absolute drivel.
