It's rare that a table plays like some people seem to want like an old billiard table, which is often why people criticise the tables in professional tournaments. The Welsh open is often the one event where quite often tables play tough, why that is, well frankly it's anyone's guess. I do find the table talk a little boring though, as a fitter once told me, a snooker table in an imperfect surface, when you keep setting them up and dismantling them across different venues, with different cloths, it'll never play the same. Players just have to adapt to it, but it is the same for both. You just have to accept it's part of the game.Speak up, you've got to speak up against the madness, you've got speak your mind if you dare

Anyone else a bit annoyed at how prominent the Riyadh Season branding is on the branding on the media day photo? You can barely see the logo of the actual sponsors - Cazoo! Seems like we might be looking at the Worlds moving to Saudi sooner than expected or some more Saudi related announcements during the world cup.

Don't last that long down the club but for these boys it's it's a pretty constant perk.
Our table gets recovered every six months so the cloths never exactly ancient when it comes off but the difference between new and say three months old is just unbelievable.
Every single time a new cloth is put on I complain the pockets are playing like buckets and I check they haven't been altered, they accept balls for fun, wait a couple of months and anything not dead centre is spat back out, honestly it's unreal the difference.
One thing I will add is you cant(unless you reshape rubber etc) have the top of the table pockets bigger as well as the middles. You can have those pockets tighter but then the middles will be bigger as it's the side cushions that are moved a fraction to tighten them up. You then have to have the baulk pockets the same otherwise you will have offset middles, every little move of the cushions has a ripple effect along the table.
My opinion is they say the templates should be a snug fit, but it's human beings fitting them and my snug will be slightly different to how snug feels to you. It only has to be a mill here or there and you will have pockets playing big, so for me if they are big, and they have been sometimes, it's just human error, no great conspiracy.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Death sells as it says in Spinal Tap, and even though the Guardian try and make out they are a cut above they are still just peddling big headlines about a possible move.

Also, would it not be possible to simply run your hand / finger along the relevant part of a table with such an edge and simply feel it? If the edge is not detectable by feel, then how could it an effect the direction of travel of a ball? Don't misunderstand this, I am not saying you are wrong, just that some evidence is needed to back that statement up, otherwise it's barely hearsay. You are free of course, as is anyone else, to make their own mind up and choose to believe or not what was said.

If the worlds get relocated to some oil kingdom, I'm out.
Stopped watching the PL when the oligarchs and sheikhs made it an investment to get even richer, stopped watching the CL and didn't watch a single minute of the World Cup in Qatar. Didn't watch a single minute of that Golden Riyadh abomination and the spreading sponsoring of the sports betting industry is giving me a hard time as well.
I'm just not lazy enough not to get entertained elsewhere, somewhere without all the corruption and the distusting greed. I deeply despise all of that human egomania, simply cannot stand it and refuse to endorse it if I can.
But that's just me... feel free to call me a bigoted virtue warrior because I'm looking forwards to the Snooker Worlds... yet"That pocket moved!"

Jak Jones looking pretty good for his 5 - 2 lead. They had to be pulled early, but no surprise there.
Some cracking coughs in the audience there, one of them sounds like someone moving a wooden chair across a school assembly hall. Whoever you are, thanks for sharing. 👍
